The situation
To use an external domain with Maildoso, you connect it in your dashboard and we give you 2 nameservers per domain to add at your registrar. That points the domain to us so we can manage its DNS. The exact steps to change nameservers vary by registrar — here's where to find them for the ones we're asked about most. For the general policy on connecting domains you already own, see Can I bring my own domains or domains I purchased already?
Squarespace (Squarespace Domains)
In Squarespace: go to Settings → Domains, select the domain, then DNS Settings. Look for a Nameservers section and switch it from Squarespace's default nameservers to Custom nameservers, then enter the 2 nameservers Maildoso gave you for that domain. Remove any existing custom nameserver entries first if there are leftovers from a previous setup.
Spaceship.com
In Spaceship: open the domain from your domain list, go to the DNS / Nameservers section, and choose to use custom nameservers instead of Spaceship's default ones. Enter the 2 nameservers from your Maildoso dashboard exactly as shown, save, and allow time for the change to take effect.
Domain registered at Cloudflare Registrar?
Cloudflare Registrar is a special case — see Using domains registered with Cloudflare Registrar.
Nameservers match but the domain is still "Awaiting NS"
Nameserver changes need time to propagate — this can take anywhere from a few minutes up to 24-48 hours depending on the registrar, even if the values already look correct when you check them yourself. See also My domain shows "NS Not Set" — what does this mean? Before contacting support:
Double-check there are no leftover or duplicate nameserver entries at the registrar (some registrars keep old ones unless you explicitly remove them).
Confirm you edited nameservers at the registrar level, not just DNS records within an existing DNS provider (e.g. changing records in Cloudflare's DNS panel doesn't help if the domain's registrar-level nameservers still point elsewhere).
Wait for propagation before re-checking — most cases resolve on their own within a day.
Still stuck after 24-48 hours with correct nameservers set? Contact support with the domain name and we'll check the status on our end.
Good to know
Until a domain is fully connected, please hold off on creating mailboxes on it so you don't run into setup issues mid-way. We're happy to confirm when a domain is ready. Once it is, see Setting up domains and mailboxes for creating your mailboxes.
