Show product codes on SmartBill documents

Using Shopify's SKU code as SmartBill's product code

When a document (invoice, receipt, etc.) is successfully created from a Shopify order, our system sends the Shopify SKU to SmartBill as the product code, so it appears on the document.

✅ What do you need to set up first?

Make sure this setting is enabled in your SmartBill account:

  1. Go to Configurations in SmartBill

  2. Open General Preferences

  3. Turn on Show product code on document

🛒 How it works

Step 1 — Set the SKU in Shopify

Go to Shopify Admin » Products » Choose a product » Scroll to the Inventory section » Provide the SKU code you want (for example: SKU001) » Save

Step 2 — We send the SKU to SmartBill as the product code

When a document is successfully created from the order, the product code appears on the document next to the product name.

Good to know

  • SKUs in Shopify are set per variant — if a product has multiple variants, each one needs its own SKU.

  • If a product has no SKU, that line simply appears without a product code. The rest of the document is created normally.

  • This feature only affects how the document looks — it does not change stock levels in SmartBill.
