What is an asset in Makula?

An asset is any piece of equipment, machinery, or item that your organisation owns, maintains, or services. Assets are central to managing work orders, tracking maintenance history, and organising documentation.

How do I access Assets?

Navigation: Open your Field Service workspace, then select Assets from the sidebar.

What information does an asset contain?

Each asset record includes:

  • Asset Name: The name or title of the asset

  • Serial Number: A unique identifier for the asset

  • Asset Type: Category or classification (such as Machine, Component, or Subassembly)

  • Company: The company the asset is assigned to

  • Description: Details about the asset

  • Custom Fields: Additional fields configured in Settings

Why use assets?

Assets help you:

  • Track equipment: Maintain a central record of all machinery and equipment

  • Organise maintenance: Link work orders to specific assets for a complete service history

  • Share information: Provide customers access to asset documentation through portals

  • Manage hierarchy: Structure assets with sub-assets for complex equipment

How are assets linked to work orders?

When creating a work order, you select the asset the work relates to. This links the work order to the asset, building a complete maintenance history that you can view in the asset's History tab.
