How to Create a Machine Template

The Machine Template feature simplifies the machine creation process by allowing you to choose from a variety of templates, each tailored for specific machine types and purposes. This functionality automates the inclusion of machine images, descriptions, and documentation, streamlining the adding new machine process.

Add a New Machine Template

There are two types of machine templates available “Machine Template” and “Line Template”. To know more about template types, please see LINK TO MACHINE TEMPLATE ARTICLE

Machine Template

  1. To add a new Machine Template, navigate to “Assets” and click on the “Machine Template” tab. Click on “Add a Template” and fill in the following information,

    • Template Type: Choose the “Machine Template” from the available options.

    • Template Title: Add a template name

    • Template Description: Add a template description. This description will be shown for all the machines created from the template.

    • Upload Image: Upload an image for the template. This image will be shown as the machine image that is created from the template.

  2. Click on the “Submit Machine Template” to create the new template.

Line Template

  1. To add a new Machine Template, navigate to “Assets” and click on the “Template” tab. Click on “Add a Template” and fill in the following information,

    • Template Type: Choose the “Line Template” from the available options.

    • Template Title: Add a template name

    • Template Description: Add a template description. This description will be shown for all the machines created from the template.

  2. Click on the “Submit Machine Template” to create the new template.


Uploading Documents in the Template

You can upload documents in the template and these documents will also be part of new machines created using the template.

  1. Navigate to “Assets” and click on the “Templates” tab. You will see all the added machine templates.

  2. Open the template you want to upload documents to.

  3. In the template detail page, navigate to the “Documents” tab. Here you will see two tabs “External Documents” and “Internal Documents”.

    • External Documents: Documents uploaded in the “External Documents” will also be visible to your clients in the machine documentation.

    • Internal Documents: Documents uploaded in the “Internal Documents” will not be visible to your clients. These documents can be used by your service engineers for internal purposes.

  4. To Upload documents to either External Documents or Internal Documents, click on the “+” icon. From the dropdown option select “Upload”.

  5. in the upload screen, choose either to upload a file by “Browse your device” or an entire folder by choosing “Select Folders”.

  6. After selecting click on the “Upload” button to upload the files or folders to the machine template.

  7. Close the upload screen to see the uploaded documents.

  8. If a machine is created from the template, it will have all the documents and folders that are present on the machine template.
