Letting sponsors know about your travel plans, upcoming events, or competitions is super important. It helps them organize team photoshoots, gatherings, and most importantly, plan their own content creation and release schedules.
How can I let my sponsors know about my travel plans?
The athlete can share this info with the sponsor in a few ways. The simplest is using the Monday Check-In Event ❗️[MONDAY CHECK IN] ⬆️ ✈️ 📆 🌍 on the calendar. If the sponsor has marked travel plans as a big deal in their settings, you'll get a reminder ❌[CHECK IN ALERT] 📆 NO TRAVEL PLANS on the day when no future travel plans are listed, nudging you to help out.
In the calendar event, there's a link that'll take you to the submission form.
Handy tips to make the most of this tool.
Travel Plans with Multiple Stops - When you're signing up for an event series like the GKA or the Freeride World Tour, make sure to include all the details and multiple stops in your travel plans.
Put the name of the event in the Trip Name section and select it as an event with the radio button.
First, enter the start and end dates for the initial travel stop of your tour. Mark it as an event using the radio button.
You can share each stop individually with another sponsor. If the sponsor already uses MAKULO and you want to notify them, click the radio button, and they’ll get an update once you save. For sponsors who don't use MAKULO, you can send them a copy in the final step. More details are provided below.
Add Another Stop - Click the "Add Another Stop" button under the first stop to include the second one in your tour. Make sure the dates don't overlap to ensure your sponsor can show your journey accurately on their timeline. If you don't have the final dates yet, just enter a sensible order. You can always tweak them later when the dates are confirmed by using the edit feature.
If you want to share more details about your travel plans or pitch a project to your sponsor, just click the project radio button to get started.
You can also ask for budget support 💰 in the next step. The great thing is that your sponsor handles all team requests in their MAKULO dashboard and can take care of your request quickly and easily once you’ve submitted it.
The MAKULO Sharing HUB is the easiest way to keep all your sponsors in the loop at once.
Your travel plan is saved! Now, you'll see the Sharing HUB pop up. Here, you can send your entire itinerary, with all stops included, to a sponsor outside of MAKULO. This way, you won't need to notify them separately. It's just like using any other calendar app: the system emails a calendar event file to the chosen sponsors. If you haven't added any sponsors yet, just click on Add Sponsor. Once you've added them, pick the ones you want by checking the box next to their names, then click Send to finish up. If you don't need to notify anyone, simply hit No Thanks! to close the window.
Add a new travel stop or spice up an existing tour/event series.
You can easily update a travel stop or add a new one to your current travel plans or events through your calendar on your phone. Just tap on an upcoming event, and you'll see a link in the notes section that takes you to your plan. From there, you can make changes or add new places with the "Add Another Stop" option.
You'll get a confirmation email with all the details soon after you send in your travel plan and event info. Your sponsor will get one too.
There are plenty of different ways to enter your travel plans.
Athlete Cockpit via Desktop - You can update your travel plans through the Athlete Cockpit. Just click the Add Travel button and follow the same steps mentioned earlier.
If you need to change a travel plan, just click on the trip or stop you want to adjust in the copy of your sponsor's calendar, and use the Edit or Add buttons in the layer.
Monthly CHECK IN Report by email - You'll get a mid-month update that covers all the important stuff. If you haven't made any travel plans yet, just click on the form at the top to easily set up a travel plan or event page.
Add Travel Plan Alert by email - If your sponsor thinks your travel plans are super important and has mentioned this in your profile, you'll get an email letting you know that no new travel plans or events will be made from the date you get the email. Just click the link in the email, and it’ll take you to the forum. You'll get a notification added to your calendar ->> ❌[CHECK IN ALERT] 📆 NO TRAVEL PLANS.
