What is Content Mode?

Content mode determines how your campaign messages are created. This is one of the first decisions you'll make in Step 3, and it affects how you'll build the rest of your campaign.

Autonomous Mode (AI-Generated Content)

Recommended for most users. This mode leverages markopolo's AI to automatically create personalized, professional campaign content.

How it works:

  • The system generates all message content automatically based on your campaign context

  • Uses your campaign objective, audience segments, products, and brand voice

  • Creates personalized variations for different audience segments

  • Adapts messaging tone and style to each channel (email, SMS, WhatsApp, etc.)

  • Can be regenerated unlimited times with custom instructions

Benefits:

  • Saves time: Creates complete campaigns in minutes instead of hours

  • Personalization at scale: Generates unique messages for each audience segment

  • Channel optimization: Automatically formats content appropriately for email, SMS, WhatsApp, etc.

  • Easy iteration: Regenerate with new instructions until you get the perfect message

  • Best practices built-in: AI follows proven marketing frameworks and copywriting principles

Best for:

  • Teams without dedicated copywriters

  • Quick campaign launches

  • Testing multiple message variations

  • Multi-channel campaigns requiring different content formats

  • When you want data-driven personalization

Example use case: You're launching a product promotion campaign. The AI generates an engaging email with product details, a concise SMS reminder, and template-compliant WhatsApp messages—all personalized for different customer segments like "recent purchasers" vs. "window shoppers."

Self-Written Mode (Static Content)

Full manual control. You write every single message yourself, word for word.

How it works:

  • You manually compose all campaign content

  • No AI assistance or suggestions

  • Complete control over exact wording, tone, and structure

  • Content remains static—same message goes to all recipients

  • More time-intensive but allows precise messaging

Benefits:

  • Complete control: Every word is exactly as you write it

  • Brand voice precision: Perfect for highly specific brand voice requirements

  • Compliance-ready: Useful when legal/compliance review is required

  • Pre-approved copy: Ideal when you already have approved messaging ready

Best for:

  • Legal or compliance-sensitive industries (financial services, healthcare, etc.)

  • Campaigns requiring exact regulatory language

  • When you have pre-written, approved copy ready to use

  • Highly specialized brand voice that AI might not capture

  • Simple announcements that don't need personalization

Limitations:

  • Cannot enable WhatsApp channel (WhatsApp requires template-based AI generation)

  • No personalization across audience segments

  • Significantly more time-intensive

  • Requires writing separate versions for each channel

Example use case: A law firm sending a compliance notification to clients must use exact, pre-approved legal language that cannot be modified or personalized.

Can I Switch Between Modes?

Yes, but with important caveats:

You can toggle between autonomous and self-written modes at any point in Step 3. However:

⚠️ Switching clears all generated content. If you've already generated or written content in one mode, it will be deleted when you switch.

⚠️ Self-written content doesn't transfer. If you write content in self-written mode and switch to autonomous, your manual copy won't be used by the AI.

⚠️ WhatsApp restrictions. If you switch to self-written mode, WhatsApp will automatically be disabled (it's only available in autonomous mode).

Best practice: Choose your content mode early and commit to it before you start creating content. This saves time and prevents lost work.

Which Mode Should I Choose?

Ask yourself these questions:

Choose Autonomous if:

  • You want to save time and launch quickly ✓

  • You need personalized content for different audiences ✓

  • You're running multi-channel campaigns ✓

  • You want to include WhatsApp messaging ✓

  • You don't have pre-written copy ready ✓

Choose Self-Written if:

  • You require exact, non-negotiable wording ✓

  • Legal/compliance requires pre-approved language ✓

  • You have highly specialized brand voice ✓

  • You already have finished copy ready to use ✓

  • You're okay without WhatsApp as a channel ✓

Still unsure? Start with autonomous mode. You can always switch to self-written later if needed, and autonomous mode gives you more flexibility and features.
