Understanding Content Mode

Before selecting channels, decide how your campaign messages will be created:

Autonomous Mode (AI-Generated)

Recommended for most users. The system generates all content automatically using your campaign context:

  • Personalizes messages for each audience segment

  • Uses your objectives and products to craft compelling copy

  • Can be regenerated with custom instructions

  • Adapts tone and style to each channel

  • Saves significant time and effort

Best for: Most standard campaigns, teams without dedicated copywriters, or when you need content quickly.

Self-Written Mode (Static)

Full manual control. You write every message yourself:

  • Complete control over exact wording and brand voice

  • No AI generation or suggestions

  • More time-intensive but allows precise messaging

  • All content remains static across audience segments

Best for: Highly specific brand voice requirements, legal/compliance-sensitive content, or when you have pre-written copy ready to go.

Can I switch modes? Yes, but switching will clear any generated content. Decide early and stick with your choice.

Channel Configuration Requirements

Each channel needs three things before you can use it:

  1. Connected integration – Your service provider must be set up (Resend for email, Twilio for SMS, etc.)

  2. Platform selection – If you have multiple providers connected, choose which one to use

  3. Enabled status – Explicitly enable each channel you want to include in your campaign

Setting Up Email

When you enable email:

  1. Markopolo checks for connected email integrations

  2. You select which provider to use (if you have multiple)

  3. The system validates integration status

  4. Email editor becomes available in Step 4

  5. Sender information is automatically pulled from your integration settings

If no email integration is connected: The email card will show a disconnected state with a direct link to the Integrations page. You cannot enable email until an integration is active.

Setting Up SMS

When you enable SMS:

  1. markopolo checks for connected SMS providers

  2. You select your preferred provider

  3. The system validates your sender phone number and credentials

  4. SMS editor becomes available in Step 4

  5. Character limits are automatically enforced during content creation

Important SMS considerations:

  • You must have a valid sender phone number

  • Regulatory compliance requirements vary by country

  • Message length affects cost (most SMS is charged per 160 characters)

  • Include clear opt-out language to comply with regulations

Setting Up AI Voice Calls

Voice calls require explicit opt-in and additional configuration:

Configuration steps:

  1. Enable voice calls (opt-in required)

  2. Configuration modal opens with settings:

    • Voice selection: Choose from available voice profiles

    • Language: Inherited from your campaign settings

    • Tone: Inherited from your campaign (professional, friendly, etc.)

    • Call script approach: How the AI structures the conversation

Voice call limitations to consider:

  • Higher cost per interaction than email or SMS

  • May have monthly usage limits depending on your plan

  • Strongly recommend testing with small audiences first

Pro tip: Start with a test campaign of 10-50 calls to verify quality and customer response before scaling up.
