  • EHIC/GHIC Requirements for EEA Travel:

    • Each traveler should have a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) or Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC).

    • EHIC cards are only valid if in date, and no new EHIC cards can be issued.

    • GHIC cards, which have replaced the EHIC, are valid for EU countries and Switzerland but not Iceland, Norway, or Liechtenstein (though this may change).

  • Apply here: GHIC Application.

  • Limitations:
EHIC/GHIC cards provide coverage for state-run hospitals only and are not a substitute for travel insurance. They do not cover all medical eventualities.

North America Requirements:

  • In North America, medical facilities require written consent from a parent or guardian to treat minors.

  • Each group should bring "loco parentis" or emergency care consent forms completed and signed by parents for their children.

  • As a supervising adult, you may need to sign these forms when visiting the hospital.
