Overview

Maxanet's Public Page Configuration is the central settings page for customizing the appearance and behavior of your public-facing auction site — logo, colors, fonts, navigation menu, page size, item display, bid history visibility, language settings, social sharing, and footer content. Every change on this page applies site-wide across all your auctions and must be saved with the green Save button in the upper right of the screen. This article covers every section of the Public Page Configuration screen and what each setting does.

How to open Public Page Configuration and save changes

From your Maxanet Admin panel, click Admin → Configurations → Public Page Configuration in the left-side navigation. Important: any change you make on this page must be saved by clicking the green Save button in the upper-right corner of the page. Leaving the page without saving discards your changes.

How to set up the header logo and mobile logo

To upload a custom logo for your auction site, toggle Show Logo Header to ON, then click the browse button to upload your logo file. Hit Save. The Mobile Browser Logo option uploads a smaller logo that displays on bidder mobile devices — use this to avoid oversized logos on phones. To make the logo clickable (for example, linking back to your main website), turn Enable Logo URL ON and enter the URL. If you do not have a logo image, use the Logo Text field to type out your business name instead — Maxanet displays the text where the logo normally appears.

Header customizations: background color, title tab color, and fonts

The Header section includes options for the header background color, plus the Font Family, Font Color, Font Size, and Font Style used in the header area. The Title & Tab Color and Title & Tab Font settings control the background color and text color of the auction title and the tabs shown on each Auction Details page. For example, you can set Title & Tab Color to orange and Title & Tab Font to white for a high-contrast look.

How to add a top navigation menu to your Maxanet auction site

The Header Navigation Menu section lets you add a simple top-bar navigation menu that appears to the right of your logo on every public page. Enter a URL and a Title for each menu link you want. This is useful for linking back to your main business website, contact page, FAQ, or any external page your bidders should reach.

How to add sub-header content above your auction listings

The SubHeader Content input box lets you enter custom text or HTML that appears at the top of every page, underneath the logo/header area and above the auction-generated content. Use it for site-wide announcements, pickup reminders, or promotional text that bidders should always see.

Content settings: page size, auction and item views, labels

  • Auction Page Size — number of auctions shown per page on the calendar. Default is 30. Only adjust for high-volume sites.

  • Item Page Size — number of items shown per page within an auction. Recommended: 50. Other popular options are 25 or 100.

  • Auction View — default view of the auction calendar. Maxanet recommends LIST. Higher-volume sites may prefer Grid View for density.

  • Item View — default view of items inside an auction (List or Grid). Bidders can override per-session.

  • Auction Label — text shown on the public Calendar page; customize to match your terminology.

  • Item Label — choose from Item, Lot, Hidden, or Blank. Controls the prefix Maxanet uses on item listings.

  • Auction Label Color — font color for auction titles on the Calendar.

  • Item Label Color — font color for item numbers.

Bid history, SKU, location, and reserve price display toggles

  • Display Bid History — show or hide the bid history link on each item

  • Display SKU# — show or hide Maxanet's internal SKU number next to each item

  • Display Location — show or hide the Location field from the Pull Report on each item

  • Allow max bid on Reserve Price Items — when OFF, bidders cannot place a max bid on reserve items until the reserve is met; when ON, bidders can stack max bids even before reserve

Additional content: banners, languages, bidder number display

  • Show Banner — optional banner image displayed across public pages for promotions or announcements

  • Enable Multi-language — when ON, lets you choose a default language (English or Spanish). Bidders see a toggle switch at the bottom of public pages to switch languages on their end

  • Display Bidder# on Bid History — choose to obfuscate, show, or completely hide bidder numbers in public bid history

  • Category Label — label for the Auction Types dropdown on the public Calendar page

  • Show Items — if set to OPEN ITEMS, items that have ended are hidden from the public view during the closing sequence when a bidder refreshes or navigates. Keeps the view clean during staggered closings

  • Live Assistant Outbid Email Notifications — when admin-placed Live Assistant bids outbid someone, this sends the outbid email to the original bidder

Social media sharing icons and button colors

The Social Media Sharing section has toggle switches for each social network icon. Any icon set to ON appears on the public bidding pages so bidders can share auctions and items to their social feeds. The Buttons section controls the color of the Winning Button and Outbid Button shown on items during active bidding — Maxanet recommends keeping the defaults (green for winning, red for outbid) because those colors are already intuitive to bidders. The Custom Message Hyperlink, if enabled, displays a configurable message (default: Determining Winner — Please Refresh) in place of the countdown timer when it reaches 0:00, which helps bidders know to refresh to see final results.

How to customize the public page footer

The Footer section lets you enter custom text or hyperlinks (for example, a Privacy Policy link) that appears at the bottom of every public page. Important: do NOT copy and paste external content into the footer box — doing so can bring hidden CSS formatting with it that breaks your auction page layout. Type content in directly or paste as plain text.

Common questions

Why did my changes to Public Page Configuration not save?

You must click the green Save button in the upper-right of the page before navigating away. Unsaved changes are discarded.

What Item Page Size should I use?

Maxanet recommends 50 items per page as a balance of page load time and usability. 25 works for lower-volume auctions; 100 can be useful for very dense catalogs.

Should I use List View or Grid View for my auction calendar?

Maxanet recommends LIST view as the default. If you run many concurrent auctions, Grid View shows more in a smaller area and may be preferable for browsing.

Can bidders toggle between English and Spanish on their own?

Yes. When you enable Multi-language and set a default, Maxanet displays a language toggle at the bottom of every public auction page so bidders can switch individually.

Why shouldn't I paste my Privacy Policy into the footer from Microsoft Word?

Pasting from Word or other rich editors brings hidden CSS and formatting with it, which can break your public page layout. Paste as plain text or type directly in the box.

How do I hide bidder numbers from the public bid history?

Use the Display Bidder# on Bid History setting to obfuscate (mask) or fully hide bidder numbers. Many clients prefer obfuscate so bidders can still see bid activity without exposing user identities.
