Overview
As of February 2024, Gmail and Yahoo tightened their email sender guidelines and now require an additional DNS record (a DMARC TXT record) on the domains that send automated email. Maxanet's bidder emails are powered by Sendgrid and you should already be Sendgrid-verified, but without the new DMARC record your bidder emails to Gmail and Yahoo addresses will start getting blocked. This article shows you how to add the DMARC TXT record yourself (or schedule a free screenshare with Maxanet to do it together).
Background: why a new DNS record became required in February 2024
Gmail and Yahoo updated their sender requirements as of February 2024. Any domain that sends automated bulk email — including your Maxanet bidder notifications — now needs a DMARC TXT DNS record on the sending domain. Without it, Gmail and Yahoo will increasingly reject or spam-folder your Maxanet emails. Maxanet's email infrastructure (Sendgrid) already handles the SPF and DKIM parts, but the DMARC record must live on your domain's DNS.
Option: book a free screenshare meeting with Maxanet to add the record
If you'd prefer Maxanet's team to walk you through adding the DMARC record, book a free 1:1 appointment using this link: https://outlook.office365.com/book/BookingWithMaxanetNewClientSetup@fullsteam.com/. During the screenshare, you'll need to be signed into your domain's DNS manager (wherever your domain is registered) so Maxanet can guide you through the exact clicks.
Self-service: how to add the DMARC TXT record yourself
Log into your domain manager — the account where the domain you use for your Maxanet From email is registered (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, Google Domains, etc.)
Navigate to the DNS Manager page for that domain
Create a new DNS record with these exact attributes:
Record Type = TXT
Host =
_dmarc.yourdomain.com(see important note below — replaceyourdomain.comwith your actual domain)Value =
v=DMARC1; p=none;TTL = lowest available option
Save the record
Email support@maxanet.com and let them know you've added the DMARC record — Maxanet can verify it in real time on their end
Important: replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain in the Host field
The Host field for the DMARC TXT record must contain your actual domain name, not maxanet.com. For example, if your Maxanet From email is info@abcauctions.com, the Host value should be:
_dmarc.abcauctions.com
Replace abcauctions.com with whatever domain you actually use. If your From email is info@maxanet.com, the Host would be _dmarc.maxanet.com. The key is that the portion after _dmarc. must match the domain portion of your From email address.
Common questions
Why do I need to add a DMARC record if my emails were working before?
Gmail and Yahoo changed their rules in February 2024. The new rules require DMARC on bulk-email-sending domains. Without it, your Maxanet emails to Gmail and Yahoo bidders will increasingly be blocked or land in spam.
Do I have to do this even if I already went through domain email verification?
Yes. The original verification (SPF/DKIM) is separate from DMARC. DMARC is an additional layer added in 2024 that is now required by Gmail/Yahoo on top of the original verification.
What goes in the Value field of the DMARC record?
v=DMARC1; p=none; — this creates a permissive DMARC policy that tells receiving mail servers to simply monitor (not block) while validating that your mail is authorized. It satisfies Gmail and Yahoo's requirements.
What should the Host field be?
_dmarc.yourdomain.com where yourdomain.com is the actual domain of your Maxanet From email address. For example, _dmarc.abcauctions.com if your From address is info@abcauctions.com.
What if I'm not comfortable editing DNS records myself?
Book a free screenshare meeting with Maxanet using the appointment link in this article, and Maxanet's team will walk you through adding the record while you share your DNS manager screen.
