Enabling Google Shopping Product Feeds for International Locations

Expanding your Shopify store’s reach with Google Shopping can significantly increase your global sales. This guide will show you how to enable Google Shopping product feeds for international locations, exclude specific products that are not sold internationally, and set up Performance Max campaigns to drive traffic.


Step 1: Enable Google Shopping for International Locations

  1. Link Your Google Merchant Center Account

    • From your Shopify admin, go to Apps and open the Google Channel app.

    • Follow the prompts to link your Google Merchant Center account.

  2. Set Up Target Countries

    • In Google Merchant Center, navigate to Settings > Shipping and returns.

    • Add shipping details for the international locations you want to target. Ensuring to add details on the transit time for international locations. We suggest using 2 - 4 days as the transit time.

    • Specify supported currencies and languages.

  3. Create Additional Feeds for International Markets

    • Go to Products > Feeds in Google Merchant Center.

    • Click on the "+" button to create a new feed.

    • Select the target country and language for this feed.

    • Adjust settings to ensure that pricing and availability match the international market.


Step 2: Exclude Products Not Sold Internationally

  1. Use Shopify Collections

    • Create a collection in Shopify for products you don’t want to sell internationally.

    • Assign products to this collection as needed.

  2. Exclude the Collection in Google Merchant Center

    • Go to Products > Feeds in Google Merchant Center.

    • Use feed rules to exclude products based on a custom label or exclude specific products manually.

    • Apply these rules to the international feeds.

  3. Verify Feed Updates

    • Check that excluded products are no longer visible in the target country’s feed.

    • Use the “Diagnostics” tool in Google Merchant Center to ensure compliance.
