Enable Mayple Pop-ups, auto-directs, and currency selector

Updated over 12 months ago

1. Enable Mayple Pop-ups

Open the Mayple app settings by going to the Shopify Home and selecting Apps, then selecting the “Mayple” app from the drop-down list.

Ensure the Mayple Pop-Up radio button is on.

Ensure the Enable Shop Mayple pop-up is not selected.

Ensure the Enable Mayple Global pop-up and Enable Mayple Global unavailable pop-up are both checked.

2. “Global Express Shipping” Pop-up

To help drive conversion, it’s helpful to ensure customers know they can buy from your store, even if they haven’t been able to in the past. Enabling this pop-up will display a clear message to consumers that cheap and fast shipping is available to their country. This pop-up will only appear for consumers whose locale is not in your store's home country. A cookie is set to ensure that this pop-up is only displayed once per week for that browser.

You can test that this pop-up is working correctly for each Market by using a VPN.

3. “Out of Stock” Pop-up

Depending on the control coded into your theme, it may be possible for a consumer to land on a page displaying a product that is currently not available for international shipping. Additionally, a user may be able to add a product to their cart that cannot be shipped internationally.

If either of these situations arises, a pop-up message will appear, providing the consumer with a clear indication of which products cannot be shipped internationally. Furthermore, a button will be available for them to click, which will automatically remove any ineligible items from their cart.

4. Mayple Auto-redirects

Ensuring that consumers view the correct country experience is crucial for maximizing your conversion rate. Currently, Shopify's automated redirects do not work for consumers in EU countries. Additionally, they fail to redirect users who navigate to your site in a new tab after an initial redirect.

Mayple Auto-redirect fills in these gaps by consistently redirecting users to the correct country experience for all international locations. It also correctly redirects a user when they navigate back to your site in the same or a new browser tab.

You can turn Mayple Auto-redirect on or off by selecting the Auto-redirect option in your theme editor under Mayple's app theme extension. You can find a direct link in your Mayple Shopify app.

Open the Mayple app via Settings → Apps → Mayple. Then click Edit Pop-up. Then scroll down to ensure this option is checked.

This forces the local Market experience.

5. Enable the Mayple currency selector

Open the Mayple app via Settings → Apps → Mayple. Then click Edit Pop-up.

Scroll to the bottom and ensure that this option is checked.

6. Ensure Phone and Email are both required at checkout

International express carriers require a valid phone number and email address for parcel delivery. Make sure your Shopify store requires both at checkout.

If you can't or don't want to make these fields mandatory, please let Mayple know if there's a default phone number and email address for us to send to the carrier. Note that the carrier often uses these methods to ensure the address is valid before attempting delivery.
