Commuting produces twice the greenhouse gas emissions of the entire aviation industry and makes up the majority of most companies' total carbon footprint. The Carbon Tracker helps you measure, monitor, and reduce your impact with accurate CO2 reporting based on real employee data.
What is the Carbon Tracker?
The Carbon Tracker automatically calculates CO2 emissions based on trips registered in the Commute Planner. Every time an employee logs a commute, Mbrella calculates the emissions for that trip based on the transport mode and distance traveled.
No more guesswork. No manual calculations. Just accurate, real-time CO2 data that helps you hit your sustainability targets.
How does it work?
CO2 emissions are calculated using data from the Commute Planner:
Transport mode : Different modes (car, train, bike, etc.) have different emission factors
Distance traveled :The longer the trip, the higher the emissions
Trip frequency : Regular commutes add up over time
Each trip is assigned a CO2 value, which is then aggregated to show monthly and yearly totals for your company.
What can HR admins see?
Navigate to Home ⚙️ > CO2 emissions to access your company's carbon analytics. You'll find:
Total CO2 emissions per transport mode – See which transport methods contribute most to your footprint
CO2 emissions month over month – Track trends and measure progress toward your sustainability goals
💡 Note: The Carbon Tracker is available on Gold nd Enterprise plans only.
What can employees see?
Employees can view their personal carbon impact directly in Mbrella:
CO2 emissions per trip : Each registered commute shows its individual carbon footprint
Total emissions per month : A monthly overview helps employees understand their overall impact
This transparency encourages employees to make more sustainable commuting choices.
