Elbow dysplasia is a common orthopedic condition in dogs, often leading to the development of arthritis over time. This condition results from incongruencies in bone growth, which alter the biomechanics of the elbow joint. These alterations accelerate the wear and tear on the joint, leading to degenerative joint disease, commonly known as osteoarthritis.

While elbow dysplasia cannot be cured by laser or red-light therapy, treatments like Luma can play a crucial role in managing the symptoms and slowing the progression of the condition. Luma red-light therapy, particularly when combined with infrared light, is highly effective in reducing inflammation—a primary symptom of both elbow dysplasia and the resulting arthritis.

Red-light therapy works by penetrating the tissues to target the inflammation within the joint. This therapy can mitigate the arthritic changes caused by elbow dysplasia, lessening the onset and severity of inflammation. By doing so, it reduces pain, swelling, and other symptoms, improving the dog's ability to perform everyday tasks.

In essence, Luma red-light therapy provides a non-invasive way to manage the discomfort associated with elbow dysplasia. While it may not reverse the condition, it can significantly enhance the quality of life for dogs by reducing the inflammation and pain that come with this challenging orthopedic issue.
