If you are offering an ongoing recurring subscription in your MemberVault account, then by default this setting is already turned on for your members to easily cancel their own subscriptions.
See this article for more information on how this process works.
That said, there are a few cases where you might want to offer a different cancelation process. Here are a couple of examples:
You have a minimum commitment requirement for your membership (i.e. your members agree to pay for at least 2 months before they can cancel). Make sure this is clear in your terms and checkout if you offer this!
You offer an exit survey to collect feedback that helps you improve your membership experience and you want this to be a direct part of the cancelation process.
While you do need to make the cancelation process clear and easy for your members to follow, you or a member of your admin team can turn off the ability for members to cancel their own subscriptions.
To turn this setting off, go to "Settings" in the left side panel menu in your admin dashboard.
Under "General Settings" > "Account Settings" there is a setting for Click to Cancel. By default it's on, but now the admin can set it to "Do Not Allow Users to Cancel Subscriptions."
When selecting this setting, you must give cancellation instructions (so the member knows how to cancel), and click to agree that you're turning this setting off.
When Click-to-Cancel is turned off, your members will still see the cancel button in their Billing settings. Instead of this button canceling a subscription, it will display the cancelation instructions you set up in your Settings area.
We’ll be looking into adding some options to the Click-to-Cancel setting in the future, at the product level, where you can offer a win back offer (i.e. stay for 3 more months at 50% off, etc) and also collect reason for canceling if they continue through to cancel.
This new update ONLY applies to recurring subscriptions. Payment plans have never been able to self cancel (unless they’re paying via PayPal, which is outside your/our control!).
