*Note - although this article specifically uses an FB Pixel as an example, this process can also be used for other tracking pixels such as Google Analytics, Pinterest, FB Domain Verification, etc.

Basic Tracking

Step 1: Generate the Pixel Code in the Ad Manager. You should get something like this.

Step 2: Copy this code and follow these quick steps in MemberVault:

  1. Go to the General Settings within your admin dashboard (under the main General tab).

  2. Scroll further down and expand the ‘Advanced Settings’ area. This will display a text box for Custom CSS & Custom JavaScript.

  3. Paste your FB pixel base code in the Custom JavaScript text box (as shown below) and click the ‘Save’ button.

4. CONGRATS! Your MV account is now pixeled! And all public and logged in users will trigger this pixel.

Tracking Sales Views / Conversions

If you want to track conversions:

Step 1: Make sure your pixel is installed properly.

Step 2: And then simply note the Thank You Page URL on your product edit screen.

You can also use Facebook's events code.

Ste 3: In MemberVault, edit the product you want to track, and scroll to the "Conversion Tracking" section. Every sign-up option will have a Product View Tracking code, and if your sign-up option is Form or Paid, you'll also get a Product Conversion Tracking code.

We recommend using the 'ViewContent' event for the Product View. However, you can use whatever event you like from Facebook.

Anytime the sales/sign-up form is viewed, the "ViewContent" event will fire. If the user completes the purchase or signs up, the "Purchase" event will fire once.

How To Find Your Facebook Pixel Code

Here's some updated advice for 2022 on how to locate and copy the code you need to paste your Facebook pixel into MV.

Click on Events Manager, then on the name of your pixel (right side of screen on desktop). Then you should see a screen like this:

Click on Manage Integrations, right side, halfway down. You should see this:

Click Manage, then "Add to Another Website" You should then see this:

Click "Install Code Manually" and then you'll get this screen:

Click Copy Code and then proceed to put it in MV in Advanced Settings as noted above.

(Thanks to MV user Carolyn Shearlock for volunteering the screenshots on this process).
