AI Sentiment Analysis
AI sentiment analysis is a powerful feature to understand the underlying feelings and thoughts behind your brand mentions.
Generally, sentiment analysis is a process that uses artificial intelligence (AI) techniques and natural language processing (NLP) to determine the emotional tone behind a body of text.
In the context of social listening, sentiment analysis is often used to understand the attitudes, opinions, and feelings expressed in an online mention or a review. The primary goal is to categorize the sentiment of the contained text as positive, negative, or neutral.
In Mentionlytics, AI sentiment analysis scores over 96% accuracy in all languages, based on our user feedback.
Where to Find AI Sentiment Analysis
You may see how Mentionlytics categorizes a mention by checking the bottom right corner of the mention box. The green smiley icon indicates a positive mention, the red icon indicates a negative, and the gray icon indicates the mention is neutral.
Also, you may find a sentiment analysis graph in the Overview Dashboard that visualizes the changes in sentiment over a given period and shows the peaks of positive and negative mentions. By clicking on each of the dots in this graph, you can see the conversation that has triggered the peak.
💡Tip: Keep in mind that the Sentiment Analysis Component can be added to your Custom Dashboards as well!
Within the Overview Dashboard, you can also see the Sentiment Share, which demonstrates the share of mentions per sentiment for a selected period of time.
Lastly, you can see the sentiment analysis graph and the sentiment share in Reports.
The sentiment analysis graph shows the daily totals of positive and negative mentions, as well as the neutral mentions on a separate graph.
The sentiment share graph in Reports shows the share of mentions per sentiment for a selected period.
How can I filter and see separately only my positive/negative/neutral mentions?
To filter your data by only positive, negative, or neutral mentions:
Click on “Filters” next to the channel icons in the top left of your dashboard.
Locate the “Sentiment” filter.
Click on the filter you want.
💡Tip: The sentiment filter is also valuable when combined with other filters available on the platform.

AI Emotion Analysis
In Mentionlytics, AI algorithms go beyond classifying mentions into positive, negative, and neutral. They analyze the context of each mention and recognize the mentioner’s emotion behind it: joy, anger, sadness, fear, and sarcasm.
The purpose of emotion analysis is to detect the underlying tone of communication. This level of granular analysis helps clarify not just what your audience feels, but how strongly they feel it.
AI emotion analysis is available in Advanced, Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans.
Where to Find AI Emotion Analysis
You may see how Mentionlytics analyzed the emotion of a mention by checking the icon next to the sentiment analysis one at the bottom right corner of the mention box.
You can find the emotion analysis chart on the Overview dashboard next to the World Map.
You can also see the emotion analysis chart in your reports by choosing the "Top Mentions Report with Emotion Analysis" standard report. Also, emotion analysis can be added to any Custom report.
How can I change the sentiment and emotion in my mentions?
In every mention, you may find the sentiment and emotion at the bottom.
There is an option to change the sentiment/emotion manually by clicking the icon if you do not agree with the automatic sentiment/emotion applied.
Note: You can customise the sentiment/emotion analysis target through the Advanced Options in the keyword setup.
The sentiment and emotion can be generic towards the post content (Not Targeted) or, for better results, targeted towards the main keyword or Tracker name. By default, the option is set to “Main keyword”.
