If your Google Business Profile has been suspended, don’t panic. You’re not alone, and there is a way to fix it. In this guide, we’ll walk you through every step to get your profile reinstated successfully, even if you don't know know what you're doing.

✅ Step 1: Identify the Policy Violation

Before you can appeal, you need to figure out why your profile was suspended. Google doesn’t always tell you the exact issue, but they do let you know what type of policy was violated. This gives you a starting point to investigate.

Start by reviewing Google’s Business Profile guidelines here:

Common Issues That Trigger Suspensions

Check these right away—they’re the most frequent causes:

❌ Violation

✅ What to Fix

No visible signage

Upload a photo of your storefront with permanent signage.

Extra keywords in the business name

Use your real-world business name only. No extra cities, services, or slogans.

Using a home or P.O. box address

Use a proper business address. If you're service-based, hide the address instead.

Fix these issues before you submit an appeal. Otherwise, Google will likely reject it.

🛠️ Step 2: Use the Google Business Profile Appeals Tool

Once you've corrected the violation, it’s time to appeal the suspension.

Go to the official appeals tool here:
👉 Google Business Profile Appeals Tool

Here's how to use it:

  1. Log in to the Google account that manages the suspended profile.

  2. Search for and select the suspended profile from the list.

  3. Check the status of the suspension under the "Details" section. It might say:

    • Eligible for appeal – You can proceed.

    • Can't be appealed – You’re not eligible at this time.

    • Not approved – Appeal was denied.

    • Approved – Great! Your profile is reinstated.

    • Submitted – Your appeal is being reviewed.

If your profile is eligible for appeal, move on to the next step.

📎 Step 3: File an Appeal and Add Supporting Evidence

This part is very important. The stronger your evidence, the better your chances of getting reinstated.

What You’ll Need:

  • Your business name, address, and Google Business Profile ID

  • Official documents that prove your business is real and matches the info on your profile

  • A written explanation of what you fixed

🔍 How to Get Your Google Business Profile ID:

  1. Click the three dots in the top-right corner of the business listing.

  2. Select Business Profile settings > Advanced Settings.

  3. Copy the Profile ID shown there.

📄 What Documents to Upload:

Make sure the address and business name on your documents match exactly with your profile. Conflicting info can get your appeal denied.

Document Type

Example

Official Business Registration

From your local/state business authority

Business License

Provided by your city or state

Utility Bills

Electricity, water, internet, or phone (must show business name and address)

Tax Certificates

Proof of tax registration or filings

You can upload more than 2 files by compressing them into a .zip folder.

💬 What to Say in the Comments Box:

Explain your situation briefly and professionally. For example:

“We’ve corrected our profile name to match our real-world business name and uploaded utility bills and our business license to verify our address. Please find all supporting documents attached.”

Important: You must upload your documents within 60 minutes of filing the appeal, so have everything ready before you click the “Appeal” button.

🔄 Step 4: Request an Additional Review (If Your Appeal Is Denied)

If your initial appeal is denied, you still have one more chance.

What to Do:

  • Double-check for any remaining issues in your profile.

  • Gather new or stronger evidence (especially if you didn’t include utility bills or licenses before).

  • Reword your explanation to be as clear as possible.

  • Then request a final review.

Request an additional review here:

⚠️ Important: Don’t try to make a new Google Business Profile to get around a suspension. This will get the new profile suspended instantly.
