This is the second in a series of articles containing tutorials designed to acquaint you with the basic steps in using the Microvellum Solid Modeling Tools. These tools are also known as SMT, which is an acronym of the full name.

How to Restore Products From an Existing Drawing

All of the information that Microvellum needs to know about your custom product is contained in the 3D model of the product. This includes the part dimensions, part material, machining, etc. As long as you saved the drawing with the correct information before you quit Microvellum, you will be able to open Microvellum and recreate the SMT product structure created in the original work session.

  1. Open Microvellum, open the existing project from tutorial #1 in this series and open the room in that project that contains your custom 3D product.

  2. Click the palette bar "Solid Modeling" to launch the solid modeling tools. Dock the SMT palette to the right side of the drawing area. Click the Tree View tab.

  3. Right-click to access the context menu and click "Restore Multiple Products From Drawing…"

  4. Window all of the 3D objects contained in your custom product so far. When it has restored all the objects in the 3D, the Tree View tab will no longer be blank – it will now contain a row for each entity in the product.
