This guide is designed for IT professionals and school administrators to centralize their school's tech stack within Minga. By following these steps, you will establish a secure environment, connect your Student Information System (SIS), and automate daily operations like attendance and hall passes. This process typically involves six core configuration phases.
Permission Level Required: Owner | District Manager | District IT Administrator
⚠️ Before you begin: Ensure you have administrative access to your school's Student Information System (SIS) and your district's web filtering or firewall settings.
In this Guide:
Whitelisting and Security: Ensure seamless access by configuring your network filters.
Authentication and SSO: Set up secure login methods for all users.
SIS Integration and Rostering: Connect your student data for automatic daily updates.
Bell Schedule Configuration: Link your SIS period data to Minga's live dashboard.
Data Reporting and Exports: Configure how data flows back to your SIS.

Clever CSV
OneRoster 1.1 CSV. Mandatory CSV Files: For SFTP rostering, only six mandatory CSV files are required. These include:
Schools
Users (first name, last name, school email, student ID, grade level, role)
Courses and classes/sections
Enrollments
Master schedule (periods, time blocks, room numbers)
Academic sessions and terms. Providing these datasets ensures that features like FlexTime and Check In are enabled in Minga.
2. Go through the self-serve rostering flow in your Minga app.
Enter your IT contact's name and email address in the field provided under People>Rostering.
Share your API Endpoint URL, token endpoint, OAuth2 Client ID, and OAuth2 Client Secret in the connection request sent from Minga.
3. For SFTP connection, you will go through the self-serve rostering flow in the Minga app:
Enter your IT contact's name and email address in the provided field under People> Rostering.
Follow the prompts outlined in our step-by-step guide here: Setting up an SFTP connection with Minga Sync
Supported File Formats and Required Files
We recommend using industry-standard formats, such as OneRoster or Clever. You can check out the formatting by visiting the following guides:
We recommend sharing the following:
In Clever format, it's encouraged that they break out the files they send like this:

categories.csv
classResources.csv
classes.csv
courseResources.csv
courses.csv
demographics.csv
enrollments.csv
lineItems.csv
orgs.csv
results.csv
resources.csv
users.csv

Open the module you wish to pull data from, such as Hall Pass or Behavior.
Navigate to the Reporting tab and select your desired Date Range.
Click Export List to generate a CSV file.
The data will automatically be mapped to student IDs for easy importing.

Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting
Issue: The nightly SIS sync failed to update student rosters.
Solution: If the nightly sync fails, first verify that your API credentials or SFTP login information have not expired or changed in your Student Information System. If credentials are correct, check the connection status in your Minga Sync settings. For further assistance, contact the support team at support@minga.io.
Issue: SFTP rostering issues due to incorrect file formatting
Solution: Ensure that the six mandatory CSV files are correctly formatted and include all required fields. Refer to the SFTP rostering requirements for guidance.
Issue: Minga domains are being blocked even after whitelisting.
Solution: If *.minga.io is whitelisted but access is still restricted, ensure that your firewall is not blocking traffic based on the specific App IDs for the Apple or Google stores. Confirm with your network team that the whitelist changes have propagated across all district access points.
