How to Customize The Stories Widget

Learn how to customize the Moast Stories Widget to match your store’s look and feel.

Updated today

In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to customize the Stories Widget to match your brand. It’s easy to do and requires no coding.

Feed Selection

If you're on the free plan, you won’t have access to feeds. Your stories will automatically display all media in your library, so there’s nothing you need to do.

If you're on a paid plan, you can choose a specific feed to display in your stories. However, feeds won’t appear in the list unless you’ve created them first. If you haven’t set up a feed yet, you’ll need to do that before selecting one.

Feeds let you organize your media into different groups, so you can control what content appears in each widget.

Product

The product selection setting lets you control which media appears in your stories based on products tagged on your media.

  • Selecting a product: If you choose a product, the stories will only display media that has been tagged with that product.

  • Showing all media: To display all media, remove the product by clicking Remove product in the dropdown.

  • Dynamic source: This setting is only for product pages. It automatically detects which product page the widget is on and only shows media tagged with that product. If the widget is not on a product page, selecting Dynamic source won’t do anything.

📌 Note: If your widget isn’t appearing, try removing the product filter. If no media has been tagged with the selected product, the widget won’t display anything. Removing the product filter will allow all media to show.

Buy Button Action

This setting controls what happens when a visitor clicks the Shop now button on your media.

You have two options:

  • Go to product page: Clicking the Shop now button will take the shopper directly to the product’s page on your site.

  • Add to cart: This opens a slide-up directly on the media, where shoppers can view more product details, select variants (like size or color), and add the product to their cart — all without leaving the page.

Sort Order

Choose how your media is arranged in the stories carousel. You have three options:

  • Video Priority: Videos will be shown first in the stories carousel, followed by images.

  • Manual: If you're using a custom feed, you can manually arrange the media in any order you like. When you choose “Manual” here, the widget will follow the custom order you set when creating your feed.

ℹ️ This only works if you’ve selected a feed. If you haven’t, manual sort won’t apply.

  • Mixed: This option randomly mixes all media types (videos and images) and displays them in no specific order.

Story Size

Choose how big the story 'bubbles' appear in your carousel. You can pick from three sizes:

  • Small: Displays more story bubbles at once in the carousel, perfect for showing a wide variety of content in a compact space like alongside the product options on a product page.

  • Medium: A balanced size that gives each story bubble more space while keeping the carousel visually appealing and organized.

  • Large: Makes each story bubble bigger and more prominent. Ideal for showcasing fewer stories with more visual impact.

Content alignment

Choose how you want your story carousel aligned: left, center, or right. This setting helps control the placement of your content, allowing you to create the look that best fits your website design.

Choose from three options:

  • Left Aligned: Perfect for creating a clean, traditional layout where your content flows naturally from left to right. It works well when you want your content to align with other elements, like text or product descriptions.

  • Center Aligned: A great option for making the carousel the focal point of the page. Center alignment draws attention to the stories and creates a balanced, symmetrical look.

  • Right Aligned: Right alignment is often used to balance out other content on the page, especially if you have a navigation bar or product details on the left.

Pick the alignement that fits best with your site's design and how other elements appear on your site.

Spacing Above/Below

Set how much space appears above and below the widget (in pixels). Use the slider or type in a number to control the exact spacing and adjust the layout to fit your page design.

Spacing Between Slides

Control the space between each story 'bubble' in the carousel.

You can choose how tight or spread out the media appears by adjusting this setting. A lower value (like 0px) means the media slides will touch each other, creating a more compact, grid-like look. A higher value will space the cards out more, giving a cleaner, roomier appearance.

Use the slider or enter a pixel value to match the style you're going for.

Border Color

Set the border around each story 'bubble' to match your brand’s look.

  • By default, the border uses a gradient—two colors that blend around the bubble.

  • You can remove the border completely by clicking the "Remove gradient" button below the color selectors.

  • To create a solid border, set both gradient colors to the same color.
