How to Import Materials to Schoology

Download your customized content from the Resource Hub and import it directly into Schoology.

Note: The Import feature is available only if your school or district has enabled Google Classroom through your Hub administrator. If you don't see an Import button contact math@moderclassrooms.org.

The Import feature for Schoology works in two parts. First, customize and download a file from the Resource Hub. Then upload that file into Schoology.

How to access Import:

Select Import in the upper-right corner of any Module or Topic page.

Part 1: In the Resource Hub

  1. Review your import setup. This screen shows all the activity types and content settings that will be used to generate your lesson content.

Scroll down to review your settings like,Video & Notes and External Tool Sources. External tools like IXL or Khan Academy will only be included if they are enabled for your school or district. Tools that are not enabled will show as Not included.

Select Edit preferences in the upper right if you want to make changes. When you're ready, select Continue to Review.

  2. Check each activity before your file is generated. This is your opportunity to review the directions that will be sent to students, and to edit or add links to any lesson resources before the file is downloaded.

If an activity shows Missing link or No resources linked yet, you can:

    • Select + Add resource to add a link to that activity.

    • Select the ··· menu next to an existing resource to Edit URL or Delete it.

Any changes you make here are saved when you continue. If you need to undo your changes, select Reset in the banner at the top of the screen.

When everything looks correct, select Continue to Download.

  3. Your content is ready to download as a Common Cartridge (.imscc) file.

Select Download .imscc File. Once the download is complete, you'll see a confirmation with the file name and timestamp.

Select Go to Schoology to open Schoology, or locate the downloaded .imscc file on your computer and continue to Part 2.

Part 2: In Schoology

  1. Open Schoology and sign in.

  2. Click Resources in the top navigation bar.

  3. Click the dropdown arrow next to the folder icon, then click Import.

  4. In the Import Collection window, select Common Cartridge (IMSCC or ZIP), choose a new or existing collection, and enter a folder name. Click Next.

  5. Click Attach File, select your .imscc file, then click Next.

  6. Determine how Schoology handles your content: click Convert to import folders as Web Content, or click Skip & Import to keep everything as regular files and folders.

  7. When the transfer is complete, click the gear icon next to your folder and select Add to Course.
