What does a pending card status mean?

Learn why a saved customer card can show as pending and how the cardholder can complete authorization.

Written by Nate

A card marked PENDING has not completed Stripe's setup process, so Moovs does not treat it as ready for future charges.

Why a card becomes pending

Moovs groups Stripe SetupIntent statuses such as requires confirmation, requires action, and processing under the pending label. The most common cause is that the cardholder must complete an additional bank-authentication step, such as 3D Secure.

How to resolve it

  1. Ask the cardholder to open your Customer Portal.

  2. Have the cardholder add the card directly so any required bank-authentication prompt appears to them.

  3. Make sure they finish every verification step from their bank.

  4. Refresh the contact or company profile in Moovs and confirm that the card now shows as active rather than pending.

If verification fails, ask the cardholder to contact their issuer or use another card. A pending card should not be relied on for a charge until authorization is complete.
