How to Avoid Scanning the Wrong Item in Rapid Scanning

Learn how to verify product matches during Rapid Scanning and reduce the risk of adding the wrong item to your AccelerList batch.

Always Check the Product Match

After scanning an item, verify that the product displayed in AccelerList matches the physical item you have.

Pay particular attention to:

  • Product title

  • Cover or product image

  • ISBN, UPC, or ASIN

  • Edition or format

  • Condition

Be Careful With Similar Products

Books and media can have multiple editions or versions with very similar titles and covers. A hardcover, paperback, audiobook, DVD, or different edition may have its own catalog listing.

Don't rely on the title alone when confirming the match.

Scan the Product Barcode Whenever Possible

Use the ISBN or UPC printed on the actual product whenever possible rather than manually searching by title. This can help narrow down the correct Amazon catalog listing.

Don't Continue If Something Looks Wrong

If the product displayed after scanning doesn't match your physical item, don't add it to the batch. Verify the barcode and search for the correct product before continuing.

Review Your Batch

Before completing your batch, review the products you've added. This gives you another opportunity to catch incorrect products, quantities, conditions, or other listing information.
