Why are compound movements sometimes in the middle of the training and not right at the beginning?

Compared to other variables in planning workous (like volume, frequency, intensity), the order of exercises has a relatively small impact on your progress. So, it’s a good idea not to get too hung up on it. MyFitCoach has taken into account the essential factors when setting the exercise order, which are simplified for you here. If you don't like the order of the exercises chosen by MyFitCoach in your training plan, you can easily do the exercises in a different order of your choice, or drag and drop them into your desired order.

The order of exercises in your training plan is based on a simple rule "first things first". The reason for this is that you have the highest performance at the beginning of your training session and can therefore accumulate your 'effective volume' particularly well.

For men, the upper body (UB) is generally worked on first, followed by the lower body (LB), unless the muscle groups you’ve prioritized are in the lower body. For women, it's the other way around; the lower body is targeted first unless the priorities involve upper body muscles. Assuming your day’s workout includes both UB and LB exercises, your session is split into UB/LB or LB/UB segments.

Next up is the distinction between compound exercises and isolation exercises. Often, you’ll start with challenging compound exercises because they engage a lot of muscle mass and are technically more demanding. So, compound exercises for the upper body are placed at the beginning of UB exercises, and compound exercises for the lower body are placed at the beginning of LB exercises.

In addition, exercises are pulled to the front that work muscles you prioritize. For example, if you prioritized chest, your training session will usually start with a chest exercise. Additionally, to tease the best possible performance out of you, the exercises are arranged antagonistically.
