Home Care services are eligible for coverage under myHSA, provided that you have a letter from a doctor stating medical necessity. Below is a detailed guide on the requirements for home care eligibility and a list of home care items that could be included.

Requirements for Home Care Eligibility:

To ensure your Home Care services are covered, the following information must be included in the doctor's prescription:

  1. Date of Prescription: The date your doctor prescribed the Home Care services.

  2. Patient Name: The name of the individual receiving the prescription.

  3. What's Prescribed: A detailed description of the Home Care services ordered by the doctor.

  4. Why It's Needed: An explanation of the condition or medical issue that the Home Care services are intended to treat.

  5. Doctor's Info: The name, credentials, and contact information of the prescribing doctor to verify their qualifications.

List of Eligible Home Care Items:

Home Care services can encompass a wide range of support and equipment to assist patients with medical needs. Here are some examples of eligible Home Care items:

  • Nursing Services: Professional nursing care provided at home, including routine care and specialized medical procedures.   • Physiotherapy: Physical therapy sessions to aid in recovery and rehabilitation. Physio must be done by a licensed Physiotherapist.

  • Occupational Therapy: Assistance in adapting to physical limitations to improve daily living skills. Occupational Therapy must be done by a licensed Occupational Therapist.

  • Personal Support Services: Help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, housekeeping, and grooming. (No credentials required, but doctors letter must state that these areas of assistance are medically necessary)

  • Medical Equipment Rentals: Rental of necessary medical equipment like hospital beds, wheelchairs, and oxygen tanks. (Doctors Letter must state these items are medically necessary)

  • Medical Supplies: Essential supplies such as bandages, dressings, and incontinence products.(Doctors Letter must state these items are medically necessary)

  • Home Health Aide Services: Support from certified aides for basic health and personal care.(No credentials required, but doctors letter must state that these areas of assistance are medically necessary)

  • Speech Therapy: Therapy services to address speech and language disorders. (Speech Therapist credentials required)

  • Respiratory Therapy: Treatments and support for respiratory conditions. (Respiratory Therapist credentials required)

  • Palliative Care: Comprehensive care aimed at providing relief from the symptoms and stress of serious illness. (Must be provided by a medical professional)

  • Wound Care: Professional care and management of wounds to promote healing. (Must be provided by a medical professional)

  • Diabetic Care: Support and supplies for managing diabetes at home.

  • IV Therapy: Administration of medications or fluids through intravenous methods. (Must be provided by a medical professional)
