This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to configure your products in LogiwaIO for seamless and compliant shipping of Dangerous Goods (DG) via FedEx.

What is this feature for?

This feature integrates LogiwaIO with the FedEx® DG process to automate the creation of compliant shipping labels for products classified as Dangerous Goods. By correctly configuring your products, you can ensure all necessary DG information is accurately transmitted to FedEx, streamlining your fulfillment process and maintaining regulatory compliance.

What you need to get started

Before you begin, please ensure you have the following:

  1. A FedEx Account Enabled for Dangerous Goods: Your FedEx account must be authorized to ship Dangerous Goods. Please contact your FedEx account representative to ensure your account is fully enabled.

Configuration: Setting Up Your Products

To enable automated DG shipping for an item, you must populate the dedicated fields in its Product Master record.

Step 1: Navigate to the Product Master

  1. Go to the Product module within your LogiwaIO account.

  2. Find a product you need to configure and go to Advanced > Hazmat Information

Step 2: Populate the FedEx Dangerous Goods Fields

Within the product details, locate the " Hazmat Information" section and fill in the following fields. The system will map this information directly to the FedEx API when generating a shipping label.

Hazmat Type

Specifies the type of regulated commodity. This determines the level of regulation applied. Possible values include BATTERY , FR (Fully Regulated), LQ (Limited Quantity), EQ (Excepted Quantity), LR (Lightly Regulated)

Hazmat Attribute

It is an attribute that defines how battery exist within the product Possible values include Packaged Lithium Ion ,Lithium Metal Battery Only etc.

Important: The accuracy of this data is critical. Always refer to the product's official Safety Data Sheet (SDS) to ensure all fields are entered correctly.

Mapping to the FedEx API

LogiwaIO handles the technical integration for you. The fields you populate in the Product Master are automatically mapped to the corresponding fields in the FedEx shipping API. When you create a shipment for a configured product, LogiwaIO transmits this data to FedEx, which then returns a fully compliant shipping label.

You can learn the detailed field-to-field mapping by asking our support team.

How it Works in Practice

  1. Configure: Set up your product's DG data once in the Product Master.

  2. Create Order: Create a customer order with the configured DG product.

  3. Generate Label: When you process the order and select a FedEx service, LogiwaIO automatically sends the DG data to FedEx. The compliant FedEx label printed will include all necessary declarations.
