Converting Higher Pack Types to UOM During Transfers (Mobile)

How warehouse associates can break down cases, pallets, or boxes into individual units as part of a product transfer on the Logiwa IO mobile app.

Overview

When moving inventory between locations on the Logiwa IO mobile app, associates can now convert a higher pack type — such as a case or pallet — into individual units as part of the same transfer step. Conversion and movement happen together in one action, with full inventory lineage automatically preserved. No stock adjustments, no supervisor intervention, no extra steps.

Access to this capability is controlled by user role. Your Logiwa administrator must assign the Convert to UOM permission to the relevant roles before associates can see this option.

When to Use It

Use conversion during a mobile transfer when:

  • You are moving case inventory to a location that stores individual units

  • You need to break down a case or pallet during a transfer

  • Your warehouse runs a single-pool model and you need to split inbound case stock for unit-level fulfillment during a transfer operation

Prerequisites

Before using this feature, ensure:

  • The Convert to UOM permission is assigned to your user role. Contact your warehouse administrator if you do not see this option.

  • The product has a UOM ratio configured (e.g., 1 Case = 12 Units).

  • The inventory you are transferring is in Stock status, has no damage reason recorded, and the quantity you are transferring is a whole multiple of the UOM ratio.

Transfer Product — Bulk Mode

In bulk mode, you scan the source location and product, enter a quantity by hand, then activate conversion before confirming.

  1. From the mobile home screen, navigate to TransferTransfer Product.

  2. Scan or enter the source location.

  3. Scan or enter the product barcode.

  4. Enter the quantity to transfer.

  5. Tap the ··· (three-dot) menu → Other ActionsEnable Converting to Units.

    • A blue information banner appears on screen confirming conversion is active.

    • The task card displays a ↕ Convert to UOM badge on the product.

    • To disable the convertion, tap on the three dot menu again and click on Disable Converting to Units.

  6. Scan or enter the destination location.

  7. Tap Transfer to confirm.

Logiwa IO converts the inventory and moves it to the destination in a single operation. If anything fails, the entire action is automatically reversed.

Converting to Units action resets after every single transaction and needs to be enabled individually per each transaction.

Transfer Product — One-by-One Mode

In one-by-one mode, there is no quantity entry step — each scan transfers one pack. Activating conversion once applies it to every subsequent scan until you turn it off.

  1. From the mobile home screen, navigate to TransferTransfer Product (One-by-One).

  2. Scan or enter the source location.

  3. Scan the product barcode.

  4. Tap the ··· (three-dot) menu → Other ActionsEnable Converting to Units.

    • A blue information banner confirms conversion is active.

    • The task card displays a ↕ Convert to UOM badge on the product.

    • To disable the convertion, tap on the three dot menu again and click on Disable Converting to Units.

  5. Scan the destination location and tap Transfer.

  6. Each scan from this point converts and transfers one higher pack type unit automatically — no re-activation required.

Converting to Units action resets after every single transaction and needs to be enabled individually per each transaction.

Common Questions & Edge Cases

What if the inventory has a damage reason?
Conversion is blocked for inventory with a recorded damage reason. You will see an error message. You can still transfer the inventory without conversion.

What if the inventory is allocated to an order?
Conversion is only available for inventory in Stock status. If the inventory is Allocated, Picked, Packed, Loaded, or Sorted, a message identifies the blocking status and conversion is not available.

Can I mark inventory as damaged and convert it in the same operation?
No. These are mutually exclusive actions. You cannot activate Convert to UOM and Mark as Damaged in the same transfer step.

Are serial numbers preserved during conversion?
Serial numbers are not propagated to the resulting unit records at conversion time. This is a known limitation to be addressed in a future release.
