Overview
From the Inventory by Location screen, supervisors can break a higher pack type line, such as cases, boxes or pallets, into UOM (unit of measure) units as part of a Transfer Product. The conversion and the move happen in one step: the stock leaves the source as cases and arrives at the target as units. If anything fails, nothing changes.
You do this with the Convert Pack Type to UOM toggle in the Transfer Product sidebar.
When to use it
A case line sits in a location that should hold units, and you want to fix it without sending a mobile task.
You need to break cases into units at a pick face before a replenishment cycle.
A case line was missed during an earlier transfer.
Example: BULK-04 holds 5 cases of SKU-410 (12 units per case). You move 3 cases to PICK-09 with conversion on. BULK-04 keeps 2 cases and PICK-09 receives 36 units.
Prerequisites
Your role includes the Transfer Product - Convert to UOM permission (on the role under Inventory), as well as the normal Transfer Product permission. Without it, the toggle isn't shown at all.
The product has a UOM ratio for the pack type (for example 1 Case = 12 Units).
The line is in Stock status and has no damage reason.
Step-by-step
Go to Inventory → Inventory by Location.
Select one line with a higher pack type (for example Case).
Click Transfer Product.
Enter the quantity to transfer, in packs.
Set Convert Pack Type to UOM to Yes. (The ⓘ tooltip reads: "When enabled, the selected inventory will be converted from its current pack type to the equivalent UOM units as part of this transfer. Lineage attributes will be preserved.")
Check the read-only UOM Conversion Preview. It shows quantity × UOM ratio and updates as you change the quantity.
Enter the target location or LP.
Confirm the transfer.
Example: You enter 4 cases with a ratio of 6 units per case. UOM Conversion Preview shows 24. After confirming, the target holds 24 units.

What blocks conversion
These checks run when you confirm. If one fails, an error is shown and nothing moves.

What happens to the stock
The units keep the lot, expiry date, production date, receiving date and PO number of the original line.
The damage reason and serial numbers aren't carried over.
The transaction history shows the move with From Pack Type (for example Case) and To Pack Type (for example Unit).
Common questions
Can I convert several products at once? No. Select one line at a time. With several lines selected the toggle isn't offered.
Can I convert in place without moving the stock? No. The target must be a different location from the source, so the units are always moved as part of the conversion.
What if I close the sidebar without confirming? Nothing changes.
