Converting Higher Pack Types to UOM from Inventory by Location

How supervisors and operations managers can break down case, pallet, or box inventory into individual units directly from the Inventory by Location screen in Logiwa IO.

Overview

From the Inventory by Location screen in Logiwa IO, supervisors and operations managers can convert a higher pack type inventory line — such as a case or pallet — directly into individual units without involving the warehouse floor. The conversion and inventory move happen together in a single confirmed action, with a full audit trail written automatically.

This is particularly useful when a case line was missed during an earlier transfer, needs to be corrected before a replenishment cycle, or a supervisor identifies a pack type mismatch without needing to dispatch a mobile task.

When to Use It

Use this feature when:

  • You identify case or pallet inventory in a location that should hold individual units

  • You need to correct a pack type mismatch without creating a separate mobile task

  • You want to convert and move inventory from a supervisor or desktop workstation in a single step

Prerequisites

Before using this feature, ensure:

  • Your user role has the Convert to UOM permission enabled. Contact your Logiwa administrator if the option does not appear.

  • The product has a UOM ratio configured (e.g., 1 Case = 12 Units).

  • The inventory row you are selecting is in Stock status, has no damage reason, and is a higher pack type (not already at UOM level).

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Navigate to InventoryInventory by Location in the top navigation.

  2. Locate the inventory line for the product and location you want to convert.

  3. Select the row — ensure it is a single product and a single higher pack type (e.g., Case only).

  4. Open the row-level contextual action menu (action button on the row).

  5. Select Convert to UOM.

  6. A confirmation modal appears showing: the product, the quantity being converted, the resulting unit quantity, and the destination location.

  7. Review the details carefully, then click Confirm.

Logiwa IO converts the inventory and records the move in a single transaction. If the operation fails for any reason, it is fully reversed automatically.

Common Questions & Edge Cases

What if I select a unit (UOM) inventory row?
The Convert to UOM option will not appear or will be disabled for rows that are already at unit level. Only higher pack type rows can be converted.

Can I convert multiple products at once from the web?
Select one product at a time when using conversion from the Inventory by Location screen. Multi-product conversion is currently not supported.

What happens if I close the confirmation modal without confirming?
No changes are made. The operation is cancelled and inventory remains unchanged.

Does this update connected sales channels?
If your Logiwa IO account is connected to sales channels (e.g., Shopify, Amazon), the updated unit count will be reflected in your channel inventory feed during the normal sync cycle.
