Overview
On the Logiwa IO mobile app you can convert a higher pack type, such as a case, box or pallet, into its UOM (unit of measure) units while you move it. Conversion and the move happen in one step: the stock leaves the source as cases and arrives at the target as units. If anything fails, nothing changes.
The option is available on four screens, Bulk and One-by-One in each of these two flows:
Screen | Mode |
Transfer Product | Bulk and One-by-One |
Directed putaway Product | Product (Bulk) and Product (one-by-one) |
It isn't available for LP transfers, location transfers, or LP putaway, because those move whole LPs or locations.
When to use it
You move cases from reserve to a pick bin that holds single units.
You put away received cases straight into a unit-level location.
You run one stock pool for B2B (cases) and B2C (units) and need to split cases for unit orders.
Example: SKU-300 comes in cases of 12. A picker needs units at PICK-07. You transfer 2 cases from BULK-02 with conversion on; PICK-07 receives 24 units.
Prerequisites
Your role has the matching permission. There's one per screen, each granted separately on the user's role, under Mobile > Transfer (Mobile):
View Convert to UOM option under Bulk Product Transfer
View Convert to UOM option under One-by-One Product Transfer
View Convert to UOM option under Bulk Product Directed Putaway
View Convert to UOM option under One-by-One Product Directed Putaway
The product has a UOM ratio for the pack type (for example 1 Case = 12 Units). If the scanned stock is already in units, or has no ratio, the option doesn't appear.
The stock is in Stock status (not allocated, picked, packed, sorted or loaded) and has no damage reason.
Transfer Product: Bulk
Tap Transfer → Transfer Product → Bulk.
Scan the source location or LP, then the product.
Enter the quantity, in packs (for example 2 cases).
Tap ⋯ → Other Actions → turn on Enable Converting to Units.
Check the screen: the product badge shows the conversion (for example Case → Unit), stock shows both figures (for example 20 Cases (240 Units)), and Transfer QTY / UOM QTY under the quantity field update as you change it.
Scan the target and tap Transfer.
The Last Operation box shows the units moved, for example "24 units of SKU-300 transferred from BULK-02 to PICK-07".
Transfer Product: One-by-One
Tap Transfer → Transfer Product → One-by-One.
Scan the source, then the product.
Turn on Enable Converting to Units in the ⋯ menu.
Scan the target. One pack is converted and transferred immediately.
Example: One scan of a 6-pack moves 6 units to the target.
Directed putaway: Product (Bulk) and Product (one-by-one)
Start a product putaway and scan the source and product as usual. See Directed Putaway on Mobile.
Turn on Enable Converting to Units in the ⋯ menu.
An amber banner explains that the location suggestion is based on the original pack type, so check that the suggested location suits units.
Use the suggestion, or tap Suggest Another to get a suggestion based on the units.
Scan the target location to complete the putaway. Last Operation shows the units placed.
Example: The putaway algorithm suggests RACK-C-04 for 3 cases of SKU-300. You need units in a shelf location, so you tap Suggest Another and get SHELF-12 for 36 units.
The toggle turns off after every transfer
Enable Converting to Units always resets to off after each confirmed transfer or putaway, in Bulk and One-by-One, even when Lock Source Location/LP is on. Turn it on again for each conversion.
Example: In One-by-One with the source locked, you convert one case, then scan the next case. That second case moves as a case unless you turn the toggle on again.
What blocks conversion
Situation | What happens | Example |
Stock is allocated, picked, packed, sorted or loaded | Conversion is refused with an error message. The stock must be in Stock status with no damage reason | The case is allocated to an order |
Stock has a damage reason | Same message. Transfer it without conversion instead | Case marked "Crushed" |
Mark as Damaged is also used | Not allowed: convert or mark as damaged, not both | |
No permission for this screen | The toggle doesn't appear | Your role has the Bulk transfer permission only; One-by-One shows no toggle |
What happens to the stock
The resulting units keep the lot, expiry date, production date, receiving date and PO number of the original stock.
Damage reasons and serial numbers aren't carried to the units.
The transaction history records the move with From Pack Type (for example Case) and To Pack Type (for example Unit).
Common questions
Can I convert part of a case? No. You enter whole packs, and each pack becomes its full number of units.
Why doesn't the option appear? Either your role lacks the permission for that screen, the scanned stock is already in units, or the product has no UOM ratio.
Does the suggested putaway location consider the units? Not the first suggestion: it's based on the original pack type. Suggest Another returns a unit-based suggestion.
Can I convert a whole LP? Not with an LP transfer or Directed LP Putaway. To convert cases that sit on an LP, use Transfer Product and scan the LP as the source.
