Sequential Putaway guides you through placing all child LPs on a Parent LP in a single optimised walk. This article covers the full operator flow from scanning the Parent LP to completing the session.
For an overview of what Sequential Putaway is and how it works, see Sequential Putaway for Parent LPs — Overview.
When to Use It
Use this flow when:
You have a Parent LP with child LPs ready to be put away
The putaway algorithm is configured and active for your warehouse
You want the system to guide you to all locations in walking path order
Prerequisites
Your user account has the Sequential LP Putaway permission enabled
The Parent LP has child LPs (with inventory) associated to it in the system
The Parent LP is not associated with an inventory without in a child LP.
A putaway algorithm is configured and active in Warehouse Settings
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1 — Open Directed LP Putaway
On the mobile app, navigate to Transfer, Directed Putaway and select LP (Sequential).
Step 2 — Scan the Parent LP
In the scan field, scan the Parent LP barcode.
The system detects that the scanned code is a Parent LP and automatically routes into the sequential flow.
If you scan a regular child LP instead, the process is blocked with an error since child LPs are not applicable for this flow.
If you are placing a single, individual LP — not a Parent LP — use Directed LP Putaway as normal.
Step 3 — Wait for the Loading Screen
After scanning, a loading screen is displayed while the system calculates putaway suggestions for all child LPs. This may take a few seconds depending on the number of LPs on the Parent LP. You cannot interact with the app during this phase.
Step 4 — Review the Queue Preview
Once calculation is complete, the Queue Preview screen appears. This screen shows all child LPs ordered by Walking Path Priority — the most efficient sequence for placing them through the warehouse.
Each row in the queue shows:
The LP's position in the putaway sequence
The LP code
The suggested putaway location
Scanning the Parent LP initiates the putaway session. Each session is 60 minutes long by default and the remaining time is refreshed to 60 minutes after user's actions or interactions on the app. This is designed to prevent stalled sessions remain and block other putaway sessions.
LPs with no valid suggestion are shown with a No suggestion available label in amber. These LPs are placed at the end of the queue automatically. A summary at the top of the screen shows how many suggestions were found and how many had no suggestion.
If the Parent LP contains more than the maximum number of LPs per session, the screen will show how many LPs were excluded. Excluded LPs must be put away in another session, after the session is complete. This can be easily triggerred by scanning the Parent LP again after the current session is completed.
Step 5 — Start the Session
Tap Start Putaway to confirm the queue and initiate the putaway. The system presents the first LP by default.
Step 6 — Place Each LP
For each LP in the queue, the screen shows:
The current LP code
The suggested putaway location
A progress indicator showing your position in the queue (e.g. LP 2 of 8)
To place the LP:
Pick up the LP shown on screen.
Scan the LP barcode to confirm it matches.
Walk to the suggested location.
Scan the location barcode to confirm placement.
The system records the inventory movement, releases that location's reservation, and automatically advances to the next LP in the queue.
Repeat until all LPs are placed.
Child LP Scanning Logic
The order of the child LPs are presented in the walking path priority order, based on the suggested locations.
You may scan other LPs in the parent LP that are included in the session. Next LP will be shown also according to the initial putaway session queue.
Important: You may only able to scan child LPs included in the session. It is not possible to scan the child LPs that are present in the Parent LP but not included in the session (due to the max child LP limit per session)
You may scan Child LP code or barcode as in the other LP scanning screens.
Child LPs without inventory will not be visible on the session queue nor will be scannable for the putaway.
If child LPs inventory is removed externally (not within the putaway session but with another Logiwa IO functionality), it will not be possible to proceed with that LP in the session and the child LP will be removed from the putaway session queue, in following to the user's interaction.
If a suggested location is blocked, unavailable, or no longer suitable, you do not need to abandon the session.
Use Skip This LP for now or Suggest Another to handle it without interrupting your flow.
Alternatively, child LPs can be still putaway to any other location than suggested (Bypass), unless Enforce Suggested Locations parameter is activated for the warehouse's putaway algorithm.
See Skip, Suggest Another, and Bypass During Putaway for details.
Step 7 — Complete the Session
When the last LP is placed, the screen displays:
Sequential Putaway Session Completed Successfully.
The session closes and all reservations are released. You can return to transfer methods or homepage.
Queue Preview — Field Reference
Field | Description |

LP code | The identifier of the child LP to be placed. |
Suggested location | The putaway location the system has reserved for this LP. |
No suggestion available | Shown in amber when the system could not find a valid location for an LP. This LP is placed at the end of the queue. |
Summary counts | Shows the total number of LPs with suggestions and the number with no suggestion. |
Common Questions
What if I scan the wrong LP at a step?
The system validates that the scanned LP matches the one currently shown on screen. If the child LP is not included in the sesion, an error message is displayed and the placement is not confirmed. Scan the child LP that is included in the session to proceed. This can be always verified on the Putaway Queue screen.
What if I scan a different location than the one suggested?
If Enforce suggested locations is disabled in your putaway algorithm, the system will accept the alternative location, release the original suggestion, and record the inventory movement to the location you scanned. The queue then advances to the next LP.
If Enforce suggested locations is enabled, the system will block the placement and display an error. You must either scan the suggested location or use Suggest Another to get a different suggestion.
What happens to LPs shown as "No suggestion available"?
They are placed at the end of the queue. When the session reaches them, you may re-apply to get an alternative suggestion. If a valid location is found, the flow continues. If not, the No suggestion available message is shown and you can use Bypass to place the LP manually to a desired available location.
Can I leave mid-session and come back?
Yes. If you need to stop before completing all LPs, you can close the app or set the device aside. The session remains active for 60 minutes from your last action. To re-enter, scan the same Parent LP — the app will detect the active session and offer to Resume. See Resuming or Abandoning a Sequential Putaway Session for details.
