Resuming or Abandoning a Sequential Putaway Session

Step away mid-session and pick up where you left off by scanning the same Parent LP. Learn how the 60-minute rolling timer works, how to resume, abandon, or start fresh, and what happens to LPs already placed.

A Sequential Putaway session stays active between actions, so you can step away and return without losing your progress. This article covers how session continuity works, how to resume an interrupted session, how to abandon one, and what happens to LPs already placed.

How Session Timeout Works

Every session has a rolling 60-minute timer. The timer resets to 60 minutes on every action you take — each LP placement, Skip, Suggest Another, or Bypass all restart the clock. The session stays active as long as you keep working within that window.

If 60 minutes pass with no activity, the session expires. Expired sessions are automatically cleared the next time the warehouse's suggestion engine runs. Any LPs you placed before the timeout are preserved as real inventory movements and are not affected.

Resuming an Interrupted Session

If you stop mid-session — by leaving the screen, setting the device down, or closing the app — the session remains open as long as it has not expired.

To resume:

  1. Navigate to LP Sequential Putaway on the mobile app.

  2. Scan the same Parent LP barcode you were working on.

  3. The app detects the active session and displays a prompt showing:

    • The number of LPs already placed

    • The number of LPs remaining

    • The time remaining on the session

  4. Tap Resume to re-enter the session. The app picks up exactly where you left off, starting at the next unplaced LP in the queue.

Nothing is recalculated on resume. The queue order and all remaining suggestions are exactly as they were when you left.

Starting a New Session While One Is Active

If you resume the prompt and decide you want to start fresh rather than continue the existing session, tap Start New.

This will:

  1. Abandon the current session and release all remaining location reservations

  2. Immediately run a new suggestion calculation for all child LPs on the Parent LP

  3. Present a new Queue Preview with a freshly computed queue

LPs already placed in the previous session remain as inventory movements — they are not included in the new session's queue.

Use Start New if your work situation has changed significantly since the original session was created — for example, if a long time has passed and the warehouse has changed enough that you want fresh suggestions rather than the original ones.

Abandoning a Session Manually

You can terminate an active session at any point while working through it.

To abandon:

  1. While on the Active Putaway screen, open the session menu under 3 dots.

  2. Tap Terminate Session.

  3. Confirm the action when prompted.

The session is closed, all remaining location reservations are released, and you are returned to the scan screen. Any LPs already placed before the termination are preserved as inventory movements.

If you scan the same Parent LP again after abandoning, the app will start a brand new session with a fresh suggestion calculation.

When a Different Operator Scans the Same Parent LP

Sessions are tied to the operator who created them. If a colleague scans a Parent LP that already has an active session belonging to you, the app will inform them that the session is in use. They cannot resume or take over your session.

The original operator must abandon the session first — either by using Terminate Session or by waiting for it to expire — before another operator can create a new session for the same Parent LP.

What Happens to LPs Already Placed

In all cases — manual abandonment, starting a new session, or session expiry — any LP placements confirmed before the session ended are preserved as real inventory movements. They are never rolled back.

Common Questions

What happens if my session expires while I am mid-way through placing an LP?
You will be warned about the session expiry and app will prompt you to either create a new session or return to transfer methods screen. If the session expires before you complete that scan, the LP is no longer part of the session.

Can a supervisor terminate an operator's active session on their behalf?
No. Created sessions can only be terminated by the session owner or expire naturally.

What if an LP is no longer on the Parent LP when I try to place it?
The system validates that the LP still belongs to the Parent LP at the moment of placement. If it has been moved or disassociated, the app displays a message and removes that LP from the session queue. The session continues with the remaining LPs.

Does abandoning a session affect other operators' sessions?
No. Each session's reservations are independent. Abandoning your session releases your location reservations, which may become available to other active sessions — but it has no other effect on colleagues' sessions.
