Overview
With Suggest Putaway Location turned on, the mobile Receiving screen suggests where to put stock as soon as you receive it, so you can receive and put away in one flow instead of dropping stock in a staging area first. The suggestion comes from your warehouse's putaway algorithm, the same one directed putaway uses.
When to use it
Receivers also put stock away, and you want to skip the staging step.
You want the putaway algorithm's suggestions right at receiving, without a separate directed putaway step.
You want two receivers working side by side not to be sent to the same location.
Prerequisites
An active putaway algorithm for the warehouse. See Create a Putaway Algorithm.
A purchase order ready to receive.
Step-by-step
On the mobile app, open Receiving from the main screen.
Turn on Suggest Putaway Location.
In PO / Vendor, find the purchase order:
Scan or Enter PO: scan or type the Purchase Order Code.
Search & Select PO: search by Purchase Order Code and/or Vendor.
In Select Receiving Type, choose Receive LP on Parent LP, Receive on LP or Receive to Location.
Scan or enter the products you're receiving and complete the receipt as usual.
When receiving is done, the Suggested Location and the quantity to put away are shown.
If the location doesn't suit you, tap Suggest Another. If there's no alternative, you see Suitable location not found.
Take the stock to the location and scan it in the target field. Scanning the target completes the putaway, as in directed putaway.
Example: You receive 40 units of SKU-LAMP with Receive to Location at dock D-02. Logiwa IO suggests shelf E-14 for all 40. You take them there and scan E-14.
How suggestions work here
Same algorithm, with optional receiving-only rules
Suggestions follow the same putaway algorithm and rules as directed putaway (see How the Putaway Algorithm Chooses a Location). You don't need any special rule to use this feature: every rule in your algorithm can suggest a location here.
If you want stock to go somewhere different straight off the truck than when it's put away later, add rules with the condition Is Receiving Process. Those rules only apply on the Receiving screen; directed putaway skips them. Rules without the condition apply in both places.
Example algorithm:
Rule 1 — Condition: Is Receiving Process. Actions: Suggest a location with the selected location zone = Overflow, Suggest an empty location. Order by: Walking Path Priority.
Rule 2 — Actions: Suggest a location that has the same SKU. Order by: Walking Path Priority.
Stock received with Suggest Putaway Location goes to an empty overflow location (Rule 1). Stock put away later from Directed Putaway skips Rule 1 and goes to a location that already holds the same SKU (Rule 2).
💡 If Rule 1 finds no empty overflow location, Rule 2 is tried next, even during receiving.
Products and LPs
Stock received to a location is suggested as a product quantity.
Stock received on an LP is suggested as a whole LP, which always goes to one location.
Space is reserved while you put away
Each suggestion reserves the space for you, exactly like directed putaway, so another receiver or putaway operator isn't sent to fill it. The reservation ends when you complete the putaway (in any quantity and any location), moves with you if you tap Suggest Another, and otherwise expires after 15 minutes. Example: Two receivers finish receiving at the same time. Receiver A is suggested overflow location O-01. Receiver B is suggested O-02, because O-01 is reserved for receiver A even though it's still empty.
What the transaction history shows
When Suggest Putaway Location is on, receiving and putaway are recorded as two separate transactions:
Receiving: the received stock is recorded into the warehouse's default receiving location.
Transfer: a second transaction moves the stock from the default receiving location to the location you scanned on the putaway screen.
Example: You receive 40 units of SKU-LAMP and put them away to shelf E-14. The transaction report shows a receipt of 40 units into the default receiving location, then a transfer of 40 units from the default receiving location to E-14.
💡 Keep this in mind when you reconcile receipts or audit stock movements: the stock briefly passes through the default receiving location, even though nobody physically put it there.
Common questions
Why did I get a different location here than in Directed Putaway? Your algorithm probably has a rule with Is Receiving Process. Those rules only apply on the Receiving screen.
Why do I see "Suitable location not found"? No rule found a location with room. See Why Wasn't a Putaway Location Suggested?
