Logiwa IO includes an advanced allocation algorithm designed to streamline order fulfillment by considering various inventory conditions, including multiple pack types. This allows users to optimize their warehouse operations by managing inventory based on different units of measurement (UOM) and pack types for a single product.
1. "Inventory UOM Pack Type" Condition
When this condition is selected, the Allocation Algorithm will only allocate inventory based on the product's UOM pack type.
The system ensures that only the UOM (primary unit of measurement) of the product is used for allocation.
If no UOM inventory is available for the product, the system will not allocate the order.
2. Inventory Pack Type Condition
This condition allows users to specify which pack types should be used for allocation.
The user selects the pack types that the system can use for allocation. The orders will be allocated only from the selected pack types of the products. If there is no inventory for the selected pack types, the order will not be allocated.
3. Prioritize Same Pack Type Condition
This condition prioritizes allocating inventory from the same pack type as the Shipment Order Line pack type.
The system first checks for inventory in the same pack type as defined in the Shipment Order Line.
If found, the allocation is completed using the same pack type.
If not, the system will search other pack types to fulfill the order.
4. Prioritize Higher Pack Type Condition
This condition prioritizes allocating from the highest available pack type in inventory to optimize picking tasks.
The system checks for the highest available pack type larger than the one in the Shipment Order Line (e.g., cases or pallets). The goal is to minimize the number of picking tasks by allocating from higher pack types.
If the highest pack type is not available, the system will move to the next smaller pack type.
This condition significantly improves picking efficiency by reducing the number of tasks. For example, it enables pickers to move full cases or pallets instead of breaking them down into smaller units, thus optimizing the picking process.
Important Note 1:
Please note that in cases where the higher pack types would be broken into smaller pack types (e.g. picking units from cases), the system will break the inventory once the picking task has been completed. After allocation, the inventory does not being split automatically.
Important Note 2:
If there is a product that has both Irregular and Hierarchical Pack Types:
When an order contains this product in "Unit", the product can be allocated from either Irregular or Hierarchical Pack Type (depending on the Inventory) if "Prioritize Higher Pack Type" is being used.
If the order is created in "Irregular" pack type and if the inventory contains only "Hierarchical" pack type, the order cannot be allocated.
By configuring these pack type-related conditions within the Allocation Algorithm, Logiwa users can ensure more efficient, accurate, and optimized order fulfillment processes. Whether prioritizing UOMs or selecting higher pack types to minimize picking efforts, each condition helps tailor the allocation strategy to suit specific operational needs.
