Logiwa's allocation algorithms will help create a more efficient picking process for your operations. With the right parameters, you can create an algorithm that will streamline your picking jobs and make sure everything runs without a hitch. This article will walk you through that process.
Guide to Creating an Allocation Algorithm
First, navigate to Algorithms screen.
If you have trouble finding the screen, please use the Search Option on the menu bar.
Select Allocation Algorithm from the available options.
You will see the allocation algorithm table, which includes a default algorithm for new accounts.
Expand to learn more about the default allocation algorithm.
Expand to learn more about the default allocation algorithm.
The default allocation algorithm includes those rules:
Don't allocate damaged inventory
Order by ascending Area Type (Picking, Storage, Receiving, Returns, Packing, Shipment, Kitting)
Order by ascending Picking Priority
Order by ascending Lot Batch Number
Order by ascending Expiry Date
To continue with algorithm creation, select Create Allocation Algorithm from the right side of the screen.
Primary Information
A menu with the header Create Allocation Algorithm will display. The Primary Information tab will load first.
Enter values for the following fields:
Algorithm Name*: Type the algorithm's name in the system. We recommend a simple and recognizable name.
Warehouse*: Select the relevant warehouse from a dropdown menu.
Active: Set the algorithm as active (Yes) or inactive (No). It must be set to active to be used.
Click on Save and Proceed.
Rules
Next, you need to define some rules for the algorithm. Press the Create New button to create a rule.
Begin by entering a name in the Rule Name field.
Order Conditions
Second, you'll need to set a condition by selecting the Plus (+) button next to Order Conditions.
Some key details about conditions:
A condition is what triggers the activation of your rule.
The condition can be set to apply to all situations or a specific condition.
You can define single or multiple conditions for one rule.
If you select Apply to All, this will apply the created rule to all allocation actions. Click Add to continue.
If you select Specify Condition, you can set a variety of conditional statements, starting with the If that you select. The available options will vary depending on your initial If selection.
For example, two conditions from MyClient's Wholesale orders:
Select the Add button to save your condition.
Below you can see the conditions on the rule board. When you add more than one condition, those conditions will be connected with AND. By doing this, you can create an algorithm for situations that satisfy both conditions.
You can add additional conditions to this rule by clicking the Plus (+) that appears next to the first condition, or use the Edit or Delete buttons to make changes.
Target Conditions
Next, you can define target conditions for your rule. From that section, you can determine to which location inventory will be allocated.
For example, you can put a rule for your damage inventory by selecting a damage reason.
Order By
In the final section, you can also add Order By for your algorithm. Order by section allows you to specify the order in which inventory will be allocated.
For example, you can define a rule for your product's expiry date and select the sorting method as ascending. With this setting, you can first allocate your products with the closest expiration dates.
Finally, save your rule by clicking the Save Rule button.
You will receive a confirmation message if the rule was saved successfully.
Additionally, you can add more than one rule for the algorithm. To change the priority for these rules, drag and drop them using the 3-lines icon on the right side of the rule list.
