The FDR report portal opens up for a period of time at the end of each season. Once open, to submit the FDR to Fonterra follow the steps below:
From your main menu within Trev, head to Integrations, then click Fonterra
You'll see a list of your farm/s connected to the integration. Click in to the farm you want to submit the FDR for.
Below your milk production data, you'll see your FDR's listed by season. Click in to the season you want to submit the FDR for.
On the left-hand side you'll see a menu to navigate through each section of the FDR or just click Get Started.
Scroll through each section to make sure everything looks right. Each section can be expanded or collapsed so you can review at your own pace. If a
figure looks wrong, the place to fix it is the underlying record in Trev (the mob
count, livestock event, feed event, fertiliser application). The FDR will refresh to
match once you save the correction at source.
Some components of the FDR are optional - if you'd prefer not to share some parts of your FDR, you can simply opt out and that data won't be sent to Fonterra.
You have the option to submit each section separately using the Submit to Fonterra button in in section or you can submit every section at once using the Submit all to Fonterra button at the top of the page. Each section tracks its own last-submitted timestamp, so the Review & Submit screen always shows where you’re up to: which sections have been sent, when, and which still need to go.
You'll then return to the main screen where you can manage your other seasons or farms.
Don't forget! you need to be a Full Access or Authorised user to submit the FDR
If you have an Essential Subscription:
On the Essential subscription, the FDR module is a review-and-reference tool. Trev shows you exactly what your Farm Dairy Records should contain based on your data for the season, organised the same way Fonterra organises them. When you’re happy with the numbers, you log into your Fonterra Farm Source account and copy them across yourself.
Handy tip! Generate a printable report of the whole FDR to keep next to you while
you complete the Fonterra form and mark each section as Reviewed in Trev as you copy it across.
If you’d like to upgrade to skip the manual data-entry step, get in touch with the Trev team to upgrade to Trev Pro.
Submission states and what to do if a send fails
Each section in Trev moves through its own small set of statuses as you work on
it. These status include:
Not yet sent — the default for a section. No action has been taken yet.
Reviewed — Essential subscription only. You’ve marked the section as reviewed in Trev, typically after copying the numbers across on the Fonterra portal.
Pending — Pro only. The section has been sent to Fonterra and is awaiting confirmation. Submissions usually clear within a few minutes but can take longer at peak times.
Submitted — Pro only. Fonterra has acknowledged the section. The card now carries a delivery timestamp.
What if a send doesn’t go through?
Fonterra’s API occasionally returns errors during a submission — most often around connection state, supplier-number mismatches, or upstream data-quality issues. Trev catches these errors at the integration layer and the Trev support team is notified automatically. You won’t see raw Fonterra error messages on screen; the section stays in Pending while we look into it. Trev support will be in touch if there’s something you need to action on your end (for example, reconnecting your Fonterra Farm Source integration, or correcting a specific record before we retry the send). If a section has been Pending for longer than you’d expect, get in touch with the Trev team and we’ll check the state of it.
