How does the Trev + Datamars Livestock integration work?

Written by Sarah Tremaine

Once you've connected Datamars Livestock to Trev, your weight sessions are imported automatically into the Weights module of your weekly report.

Depending on how you set up the connection, sessions will arrive as either Draft events that are ready for review, or Confirmed events that are immediately included in your reporting.

Review imported weight events

If your connection imports sessions as Draft, they'll appear in blue at the top of the Weight Events section in the Weights module.

From here you can:

  • Confirm the event by clicking the green tick.

  • Edit the event by clicking the blue pencil.

  • Reject the event by clicking the red rubbish bin.

If you edit an imported event, you can assign it to one of your Trev mobs and add notes or a reference.

The session details themselves including the farm, date, number of animals and liveweights can't be edited in Trev because they come directly from Datamars Livestock. If you need to change those details, update the session in Datamars Livestock and the changes will be imported during the next sync.

Handy tip: Rejected a session by mistake? You can restore it at any time. Open the farm's Manage Data page from the Datamars Livestock integration, find the session and click Restore.

If your connection imports sessions as Confirmed, there's nothing more to do. The event is already included in your reporting. You can still edit it later to assign a mob or add notes if you need to.

Trigger a manual sync

Trev checks for new Datamars Livestock sessions several times a day.

If you've just finished weighing and don't want to wait for the next automatic check, you can trigger a manual sync at any time.

From your weekly report

  1. Open the current weekly report for the farm.

  2. Select the Weights module.

  3. At the bottom of the Weight Events section, click Sync with Datamars.

  4. Click Sync Now.

Alternatively, from the Integrations page

  1. Click the menu icon (three lines) in the top left corner.

  2. Select Integrations.

  3. Find the Datamars Livestock tile and click Manage Connections.

  4. Find the farm and click Manage Data.

  5. Click Sync with Datamars.

What to expect

Your sessions usually appear within a few moments.

Each session will display a status while it's being processed:

  • Processing – Trev is importing the session.

  • Successful – The weight event has been created successfully.

  • Failed – The session couldn't be imported. Click Sync Event to try again.

Once the import is complete, the weight event will appear in the weekly report covering the date the session took place, either as a Draft or Confirmed event depending on your connection settings.

Review your liveweight records

You can view more detailed information about imported weight sessions in the Liveweights report.

  1. Click the menu icon (three lines) in the top left corner.

  2. Select Analytics.

  3. Scroll to Detailed Reports and open Liveweights.

  4. Click the eye icon beside a session, then select View Session.

  5. Review the list of animals along with the minimum, maximum and average liveweights for the session.

  6. Click the bar graph icon below the Number of Animals tile to view the weight distribution.
