Using a document camera in Nearo

How to use a document camera during a Nearo session on Mac or Windows.

You can share a document camera during a Nearo session by opening it in a camera viewer on your computer and sharing your screen.

Setting up on Mac

Mac users can use QuickTime Player to display a document camera and share it during a session.

  • Plug the document camera into your Mac.

  • Open QuickTime Player by clicking the Spotlight Search icon in the top-right corner of your screen, typing QuickTime Player, and pressing Return.

  • Click FileNew Movie Recording.

  • Click the arrow next to the record button and select the document camera.

  • Position your materials under the document camera.

  • Resize the QuickTime window so it is easy to see on your screen.

  • Start screen sharing in Nearo.

  • Move the QuickTime window where you want it on your screen during the session.

Setting up on Windows

Windows users can use the built-in Camera app to display a document camera and share it during a session.

  • Plug the document camera into your computer.

  • Open the Camera app by clicking Start or the search icon, typing Camera, and opening the app.

  • If necessary, switch to the document camera using the camera switch option.

  • Position your materials under the document camera.

  • Resize the Camera app window so it is easy to see on your screen.

  • Start screen sharing in Nearo.

  • Move the Camera app window where you want it on your screen during the session.

What your student will see

  • Your webcam video will remain visible in Nearo.

  • The document camera's content will appear on the shared screen.

  • You can switch between showing the document camera and other applications by moving or resizing windows on your screen.
