Overview of features and the workflow of the Shipping section in Neatoscan Books

Overview

When shipping orders in Neatoscan, you can use the Shipping section. This section allows you to scan ordered items, and then weigh and ship them. The interface of the Shipping section may vary based on your account's user permissions.


Layout & Navigation

The Layout of the shipping section is broken down in the image and definitions below.

  • Order Details: Displays details of your scanned order, such as title, marketplace, images, and more.

  • Order Items: Shows the items in the scanned order. indicates the item is scanned in, and indicates that the item is not yet scanned in. (This only applies if there are multiple items in one order).

  • Shipping Options: Various shipping tools are accessible using the buttons detailed below.

    • Manual Scan: Enables you to enter barcodes manually if you don’t have a barcode scanner.

    • Manual Shipping: Create a shipment by entering a custom order ID and address. This allows you to ship the item as if it were already in Neatoscan.

    • Purchase Postage: When using a shipping service like Endicia, you can refill the amount of money you have in your account to purchase more postage here.

    • Postage Log: View and reprint previously shipped items and print end-of-day forms.

  • Destination Address: Shows the buyer's shipping address and other details such as phone number, name, and email.

  • Item Weight: Enter the item's weight using a USB scale or manually enter it if no scale is connected.

  • Shipping Options & Rates: Displays shipping options and rates after entering the item's weight.

  • Print Label Button: Print the shipping label after selecting a shipping method.

  • Postage Attributes: Set any modifications or add-ons needed for your postage.

    • Set Dimensions: If you aren’t shipping BPM or Media Mail and the shipping method needs dimensions and weight, set dimensions here.

    • Delivery Confirmation: Add a delivery confirmation.

    • Signature Confirmation: Add a signature confirmation.

    • Insurance: Select to add insurance, then enter the dollar amount you need to insure.

    • Skip Days Ahead: Schedule a shipment for a future date. The label will print out immediately, but with a future date.


Shipping an Order

When your order/items have been picked and are ready to be shipped, navigate to the Shipping section and follow the instructions below.

  1. Scan your item: Scan the item tag or packing slip to import the order to shipping. If you are working on a multi-item order, continue scanning every item in that order. Manually enter barcodes if needed.

  2. Weigh the item: Place the item on a scale and ensure the weight is accurately recorded. Correct weight is crucial for determining shipping costs.

  3. Select a shipping rate: Choose a rate that matches the shipping priority level of the item.

  4. Print the shipping label: Click Print Label to print the shipping label and attach it to the package.


Settings for shipping

Printer Settings

To link your printer to Neatoscan, follow these steps:

  1. In Neatoscan, go to Settings.

  2. In the General tab,

  3. Locate the Label Printer and click the Icon.

  4. Select the printer you want to assign.

  5. Click Print to finish assigning the printer.

USB Scale Settings

After connecting your scale’s USB cable to your computer, assign it in Neatoscan following these steps:

  1. In Neatoscan, go to Settings.

  2. Navigate the the Shipping tab.

  3. Select the scale you are using. For the DYMO M25 scales, select USB Scale.

Shipping Service Settings

If you need to change your shipping service credentials, follow the steps below or contact the support team at support@neatoscan.com.

  1. In Neatoscan, go to Settings.

  2. Navigate to the Shipping tab.

  3. Scroll down and select the carrier you are using. Amazon can be used alongside the shipping services shown in the carrier section below. This is so Amazon shipping can be used on Amazon orders, and a different shipping services, like Endicia, can be used when shipping Non-Amazon orders, or if their shipping API is down.

  4. If you are using FedEx, UPS, Endicia, or Pitney Bowes, navigate to their respective tab and enter the shipping credentials requested. The example below demonstrates this process for Endicia.
