When creating a Region, you’ll be required to specify the following fields.
Region level - Specify a level number to create the region in. This can be a new or existing level number. A region level is simply a number stating the hierarchy level. Base locations are Level 0. If one region is built on level 100 and another on level 110, the one on level 110 will be higher in the hierarchy. Leave some room in between levels in case you need to add some later. Adding another level between level 50 and level 100 is a lot easier than adding another level between level 97 and level 98 for example.
Code - Provide a unique location code of letters, numbers and/or special characters without spaces. The code should ideally be something meaningful like an abbreviation of the region description, to make searching and reporting easier to understand. Don’t reuse any existing location codes.
PRO TIP: Use single word codes without spaces, eg TOT or COMBINE, etc. The code cannot be edited later unless you are prepared to delete the region and recreate it. This, however, will remove all dashboard history of the region.
Description - Provide any meaningful description that will enable you to easily locate the Region when searching for it in the app.
Currency - Specify the default currency of the Region.
Export location code - If specified, this value will replace the location code in downloaded order files. This can be used to ensure that orders created in the regional locations are loaded against a real location in the host system.
Distribution center vendor code - If specified, this value will replace the supplying location code in downloaded transfer files.
Allow order creation - This setting will enable the option of creating orders using this virtual location. Orders can be raised against a Supplier at the region or Distribution Center (DC) transfers can be raised from the region. From there it can be absorbed by the individual locations based on Recommended Order at that location.
Allow outbound redistribution - This setting will enable the region to send excess stock to another location when the Excess redistribution module is enabled. Refer to Excess redistribution for further explanation.
Allow inbound redistribution - This setting will enable the region to receive excess stock from another location when the Excess redistribution module is enabled. Refer to Excess redistribution for further explanation.
Show on the executive dashboard - This setting will enable the Executive dashboard to display the region information. Refer to Introduction to the Executive Dashboard for further explanation.
Show aggregated data on the executive dashboard - This setting will enable the Executive dashboard to display the aggregated data for the region.
When enabled, filtering the Executive dashboard by region will show data summed from its member locations.
When disabled, the Executive dashboard will show data from the region itself. This may be the best choice if the region is used for ordering.
If data is not being aggregated, the member locations should be hidden from the dashboard to avoid inflating figures when viewing all locations.
Show AI Opportunity for this region - This setting will enable the AI Opportunity engine to recommend cost-saving interventions for the region. Refer to Opportunity Engine™ - What is Netstock AI™ all about? for further explanation.
Consolidate forecasts - If enabled, the forecast in the region will be the sum of the linked locations.
Disaggregate forecasts - If enabled, forecasts will be primarily managed at the region. Sales history per location will be consolidated for the region. A fitting forecast is then calculated at the region level and automatically split amongst its member locations based on their proportional contribution to the sales history. Refer to the configuration settings for options to adjust the sharing calculation.
NOTE: The “consolidate forecasts” and “disaggregate forecasts” options cannot be selected at the same time. Forecasts cannot be both summed from individual locations and calculated at the region.
Consolidate intra-region transfers - Choose whether to consolidate transfers where both the sending and receiving locations are in the same region.
NOTE: Disable this option if the region included any “in-transit” locations which represent stock transfers as stock on hand.
