The Summary tab offers an overview of key information related to various aspects of your business. You have the flexibility to select specific locations or consolidated regions to tailor the summary to your needs. At the top of the dashboard, you'll find essential key performance indicators (KPIs) that provide valuable insights into your business's performance. You will also be provided with useful graphs which display the values for the location or group of locations selected. Information is averaged over a quarter. The Summary tab helps you to make well-informed decisions based on your overall business performance.

What should I do first?

Click on the location drop down to select a location you wish to view a summary for.

You may select to view a summary for all locations, specific physical locations or consolidated regions.

NOTE: When viewing the summary at a region, the TOTAL excess and stock-outs will be displayed. This differs from viewing a region’s information on the Dashboard, where excess at one location can be offset by stock outs at another.

Key performance indicators

View KPIs for the selected location at the top of the view. These are explained below.

Stock holding - The sum of actual stock for the location or group of locations. If you have locations in different currencies, the stock holding information will be displayed in the default currency. All currency rates are as of the current day.

Excess - The sum of stock over and above the order-up-to-level (LT+SS+RC) for the location or group of locations.

Excess count % - The percentage of items with excess stock and a color-indication of the severity.

  • Green - Low risk - Below 30%

  • Olive - Medium risk - Between 30% and 50%

  • Red - High risk - Above 50%

Surplus orders - The sum of orders in the pipeline that will result in excess should they be received.

Surplus orders count % - The percentage of items with surplus orders and a color-indication of the severity.

  • Green - Low risk - Below 30%

  • Olive - Medium risk - Between 30% and 50%

  • Red - High risk - Above 50%

Stocked out - The sum of potential lost sales due to items with an availability of zero or a negative value.

Stocked out count % - The percentage of items that are stocked out and a color-indication of the severity.

  • Green - Low risk - Below 30%

  • Olive - Medium risk - Between 30% and 50%

  • Red - High risk - Above 50%

If you are unfamiliar with the KPI definitions, visit the in-app tours on the Dashboard for further elaboration.

Graphs

You will notice a number of graphs on the Summary tab. These are explained below.

Inventory value -This graph displays the sum of the inventory value and the sum of the model value for the location or group of locations averaged over a quarter.

Excess value - This graph displays the sum of the excess inventory value.

Excess % of inventory value - This graph displays the excess value as a percentage of the total stock holding as well as the percentage of items with excess stock.

Fill rate - This graph displays the sum of the weighted target fill rate and achieved fill rate. This information was not recorded prior to Q4 2022 and thus there won’t be information older than that.

Surplus orders value - This graph displays the sum of the surplus orders.

Surplus orders % of inventory value - This graph displays the surplus orders value as a percentage of the total stock holding as well as the percentage of items with surplus orders.

Sales value - This graph displays the sum of the sales.

Lost sales - This graph displays the sum of lost sales (stock outs).

Lost sales % of sales value - This graph displays the lost sales value as a percentage of the total sales as well as the percentage of items with lost sales (stock outs).

Stock turns - This graph displays the average number of stock turns. This information was not recorded prior to Q4 2022 and thus there won’t be information older than that.

Investment - This graph displays the sum of the stock being held in each “constraint category”. These categories can be viewed as stock we don’t necessarily want to keep, but have to keep.

  • Minimum stock - Stock only being held because of minimum stock levels.

  • Safety stock - Additional layer of stock to protect items from stocking out. Managing supply and demand risk will aid in reducing the amount of safety stock required.

  • Cycle stock - Based on the specified replenishment cycle. Shorter replenishment cycles means less stock will be tied up in this category (PRO TIP: Shorter replenishment cycles do, however, result in higher levels of safety stock).

  • Effective replenishment cycle - The replenishment cycle will be adjusted to incorporate minimum order quantities (MOQ). This value indicates how much additional stock is required to accommodate these supplier constraints.

  • Excess - The sum of stock over and above the order-up-to-level (LT+SS+RC).

SKULs - This graph displays the count of the item codes or product codes by location.

Status breakdown - This graph displays the number of SKULs (stock keeping units by location) in each stocking status. We should aim to have all of our items in an OK status and reduce the amount of items with another status.
