FAQ: NCOA Contact Updates
Updated over a week ago

Our NCOA Contact Updates service provides updated home mailing addresses for any of your contacts who may have changed their address with the USPS.

An automatic check of your contacts' addresses against the USPS National Change of Address (NCOA) database will happen every 90 days. If any of your contacts have moved, we will update those addresses in your 'Donor Management' system.

1) When are updates processed?

Every 90 days. After an NCOA update, you will receive an e-mail with a link directing you to the β€˜Exports’ page in 'Donor Management'. From there, you can download a file that includes home addresses that were validated and updated. This report will display new and prior addresses for contacts where an updated home address was found.

2) How does the system know when an address needs to be updated?

We provide the following fields to the USPS NCOA database:

  • First Name

  • Last Name

  • E-mail

  • Company Name

  • Home Address

  • City

  • State

  • Zip Code

These fields determine if the listed contacts have recently updated their address in the USPS system.

3) Do these updates include Canadian and/or international addresses?

No, we currently receive all updates using the United States Postal Service's National Change of Address system, which restricts it to US-based address updates.Β

4) Do these updates include my organizational contacts?

No, currently, we are only able to provide this service for individual contacts.Β

5) Do these updates include work addresses?

No, currently, we are only able to provide updates to the home address on contact records.
