DECEMBER 2019

Only see active recurring donors with recurring donor status tag

In Donor Management the Recurring Donor status tag is removed from the contact record as soon as the recurring donation is stopped or cancelled. Reminder: the tag is added to the record when a donor creates a recurring donation on one of your Bonterra Fundraising Pages.

See recurring donor stats on the dashboard

On your dashboard's donor section, you'll now see a recurring donor count as well as a shortcut to view the list of all recurring donors.

View email blast result details on primary and secondary emails

You now have more insight into the status of email blasts that were sent to a contact record that has more than one email address. On the email results page you will now see the status for email blasts sent to a contact's primary and secondary email address and which email address opened, clicked, bounced etc. Reminder: if you have contact records with both primary and secondary email addresses and they meet the criteria for an email blast, the system will send an email to both inboxes.

Preview text message copy in real-time

When drafting a text message, you can now see how the message looks on the preview screen as you type.

NOVEMBER 2019

Thank donors with video

You can now send personalized thank you videos to donors from Donor Management! Simply click the drop down for acknowledgements next to the donation on the giving page in Donor Management and you’ll see a new option to send a video. Go check it out! Note: You must have a mobile device with a working camera and customers receiving videos must have an email address or mobile number in the system. Thank you to all the customers who beta tested this feature for us!

Sync Donations from Donor Management into QuickBooks Online

We now have an integration between Donor Management System and QuickBooks Online. We know this is a busy time of year so we understand you may want to hold off until January to setup this integration.

Using the integration gives you a super-fast way to get all of those December donations into QuickBooks Online! Here is a quick article that explains how the integration works so that you can review the integration or share the details with your bookkeeper in the meantime.

Raise More Money with the Year-End Engagement Plan

The year-end engagement plan is a set of tasks and email templates that makes it easy to get all your year-end emails created and scheduled so you can engage even more donors during the busy giving season.

If you've never done full-blown year-end email campaign before, this takes out all the guesswork. To launch the plan, click the green banner at the top of your Donor Management dashboard. If you don’t see the banner, or have any other questions about using the plan, read our FAQs.

Quickly Import Supporters’ Data with a MailChimp Export

Were you previously using MailChimp for email communication and you’re ready to import these names and email addresses into your Donor Management System? You can now import supporters’ names into your Donor Management System using a contacts export from your MailChimp account without making any formatting changes to the spreadsheet.

OCTOBER 2019

Quickly Import Supporters’ Data with a ConstantContact Export

Were you previously using ConstantContact for email communication and you’re ready to import these names and email addresses into your Donor Management System? You can now import supporters’ names into your Donor Management System using a contacts export from your ConstantContact account without making any formatting changes to the spreadsheet.

Get More Insight into Donations with Soft Credits

Thanks to feedback from many customers who are using the soft credit feature, we’ve now made it possible to run a giving filter on soft credits!

If you’d like to do further analysis of donors associated with soft credits, you can export the data to a spreadsheet by using the toggle on the export selection window.

See All Donors Beyond the Donor Scroll

In addition to the donor scroll displaying the most recent donations, there is now a button at the bottom of the donor scroll on all Everyday Giving Pages that gives you (and your supporters) the ability to see every donation associated with that campaign.

SEPTEMBER 2019

PayPal importer

Have donations from PayPal that you want to add to donor records in your Donor Management System? You can now import PayPal donations into your Donor Management System using a simple export from your PayPal account. The best part? No need to edit the spreadsheets or change the formatting before starting the import process.

New importer process

We’ve heard your feedback and have streamlined the self-import process to help you import your own data with less errors and duplicates.

And, as always, if you have any additional data you’d like to see in your system but need some more help, you can send us your data and we can import your donations and contacts for you. This process takes 4-6 weeks.

You can get to the importer by clicking "Import" in the top right of Contacts page.

Export fields for ticket purchases
When exporting giving data from Donor Management, you can now export ticket purchase history in addition to donations.

Confirm donor's mobile number

You can now insert a donor’s mobile number as a merge field into an email or direct mail piece. You can use this merge field to confirm mobile numbers for donors so when you're ready to launch a text messaging campaign, you've got accurate data.

JULY/AUGUST 2019

Get more email addresses with text-to form

Ditch your event's email sign up form. Ask supporters to text a keyword ("subscribe" or "newsletter") to your System's text number and they'll get a link to a form. Once your supporter fills out the form with their name and email address, we'll add them to your Donor Management System. Don't have a number for texting? Request a number by navigating to the Text Messages menu option under Communication in your Donor Management System and fill out the form and we'll get on it!

Navigate your Peer-to-Peer dashboard more easily

We relocated the Peer-to-Peer menu to the top of the page and gave the dashboard a "face lift" to better match your other Network for Good fundraising tools. Read more about the updates to the dashboard.

View information in a cleaner Fundraising Pages donor profile

You'll also notice a cleaner donor profile layout in Fundraising Pages. Curious about these updates? Read about the updates to the donor profile.

See historical and rolling donor retention rate

On the Donors section of your dashboard you now have a snapshot of your donor retention rate over the last three years.

JUNE 2019

Attribute fundraising success to emails
When viewing email results in Donor Management, you’ll see a new stat: “Raised”. This tells you how much you have raised from email recipients clicking and donating or purchasing tickets through the Everyday Giving Page or Event Ticketing Page that is hyperlinked in this email blast.

Increase confidence when sending text messages and tracking text-to-give donations
There are three new updates to our text messaging feature:

  • View donations made through text-to-give: You can now create a giving filter that will display donations that originated through text-to-give.

  • Send text messages to mobile numbers only: When you send a text message blast, we will first confirm that the number in your Donor Management System is a mobile number. If it’s a mobile number (and the donor hasn’t unsubscribed) the text will be delivered. If it’s a landline, you’ll see a helpful message in the contact’s profile letting you know that the phone number is not a mobile number and can’t receive texts.

  • See donors who unsubscribe from texts: When editing a contact’s profile you will now see a message below their mobile phone number confirming the donor has unsubscribed from text messages.

Control the donor scroll on each Fundraising Page
You can now turn off the donor scroll on a page by page level. When editing an Everyday Giving Page or Peer-to-Peer Campaign, unselect “Display the donor scroll” under the Donor Scroll Settings section and it will be disabled for that campaign page only.

Reach out to donors in a specific geographic area

If you are hosting a local event or want to send out fundraising results for a project in a certain neighborhood to local donors only, you can now generate a list to include donors in a certain geographic area based on zip code!

By using the filter “Distance in miles from zip code” found under the Contact home address section in the filter drop down menu, you can now find donors who live within a certain area.

MAY 2019

New recommended contact filters
We've created some new contact filters to help you gain more insight into donors who have lapsed and renewed (so you can celebrate) or are about to lapse (so you can do some outreach):

  • Renewed donors this calendar year - easily identify donors who lapsed in their giving last year but renewed in the current calendar year. Celebrate these renewed donors (and this is a great number to share with your board)!

  • Renewed donors last calendar year - find donors who lapsed in their giving two years ago but gave in the last calendar year. This is a valuable number to review in Q1 to review those renewed donors from the last year.

  • Donors at risk of lapsing next 30 days - see who is 30 days away from lapsed status and make plans to retain them.

Send email blasts to work email addresses and (new!) secondary email addresses You can now save a second personal email address on a contact record. This email address doesn't have to be unique (meaning more than one record can share a secondary email address if you'd like).

And, when sending email blasts, if the recipient has a work or secondary email address those inboxes will now receive your email blast in addition to the primary email address inbox.

Acknowledging event ticket purchases
Based on lots of feedback from customers, we've now made it possible to send an acknowledgement for an event ticket purchase just as you would acknowledge a donation.

Ability to save rows in the advanced email designer
This will save customers time when designing their emails. No more having to re-create the same parts of the email blast each time. And as a bonus, you will also now see an option called "Default Rows" which gives you pre-designed rows out of the gate.
