BIC Not Recognized?

Updated over 2 weeks ago

If you're seeing an error that your BIC FRMEGB22XXX isn't recognized when trying to use your IBAN, don’t worry — there’s a simple workaround!

✅ What to do

You can continue using the same IBAN, but replace the BIC with:

CLRBGB22XXX

This BIC is widely accepted and linked to the same underlying account, so your payment will still arrive safely.

🧠 Why this happens

The BIC FRMEGB22XXX is associated with a newly issued IBAN, and some banks or payment providers may not have updated their systems to recognise it yet. This is normal and temporary.

To avoid delays or errors, you can use the alternate BIC CLRBGB22XXX, which is fully compatible and will be accepted by most platforms.

💡 Example

If your IBAN is:

GBXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XX

And you're using:

FRMEGB22XXX (which causes an error)

Just change the BIC to:

CLRBGB22XXX

Then continue with your transfer or setup — it should go through without any issues.

⚙️ Still having problems?

If this workaround doesn’t resolve the issue for you, reach out to us on support@nsave.com we’ll manually issue you a new IBAN with the CLRB BIC built in same day.

⚠️ Note: If your account already has funds, we’ll need your explicit confirmation before switching, since we can’t move balances automatically without your approval.

Once switched, your new IBAN will work with nearly all banks and platforms without issue.
