The One Car Challenge is about parking your car and using Metro instead. If you have an LA Metro TAP card, linking it during enrollment helps us see your Metro trips count up week by week.
Linking your card
You can link your TAP card during enrollment (Step 6) or any time afterward:
1. Open the app and go to Menu → TAP Card.
2. Enter the card number printed on the back of your card.
3. Tap Link.
Your card stays under your own control — we only read trip and balance information; we don't move money on or off it.
What counts as a trip?
Every time you tap into a bus or train with your linked TAP card, that trip is logged. You can see trips on the home screen alongside your weekly rewards progress.
I don't have a TAP card
You can still take part in the pilot — linking a TAP card is optional. Pick one up at any Metro station or order one online at taptogo.net.
My TAP card isn't linking
Common reasons:
The card number was typed incorrectly — double-check the 9-digit number on the back.
The card is brand new and hasn't been registered yet — register it first at taptogo.net and then try linking.
