Our team is about to get started on improving your online presence! Before moving ahead any further, we'll need to make sure we have access to a number of platforms. In this article, we'll outline what these are, why we need them and some common examples.

Website Logins - (aka CMS, or Content Management System)

Your CMS is where you login to make changes to your website.

Some common CMS' include:

  • Wordpress

  • Wix

  • Squarespace

  • Weebly

In some cases, this will be the same as your hosting provider (ex. Wix is a website builder AND also hosts your files). In other cases (ex. Wordpress), your CMS is in a different location than your website files.

Our team will need access to be able to make changes to your website.

Domain Logins

The domain provider is where your domain name (ex. onelocal.com) is currently hosted with. Your domain name is how a customer will access your website, and is pointed to your website files.

You can try the ICANN lookup* to find out more info about your Domain name.

Some common domain providers include:

  • GoDaddy

  • Domain.com

  • Enom

  • Namecheap

  • Bluehost

  • Dreamhost

We'll need access to your Domain to launch your new website.

Website Hosting Logins

Your website hosting provider is where your website files are actually stored, and the location that the Domain is connected to.

Some common Hosting Providers include:

  • Siteground

  • Bluehost

  • HostGator

  • GoDaddy (provides website hosting as well as domain hosting)

  • Dreamhost (provides website hosting as well as domain hosting)

  • Wix (a CMS that also provides website & domain hosting)

  • Squarespace (a CMS that also provides website & domain hosting)

It’s important to have access to your hosting provider to ensure we can make changes to website files, transfer website files to our platform (in some cases), and backup files.

CRM Logins

In some cases, your CRM logins may be required in order to set up an integration with LocalReviews. Your CRM (Customer Relationship Management) platform is where you manage your clients and appointments.

Some examples of CRMs include:

  • Jane App

  • Mindbody

  • Jobber

  • Booker

  • AestheticsPro

Instagram Logins

Additionally, an Instagram login is needed if you have LocalContent, or if you're getting a new website built with LocalSite and you'd like an Instagram feed integrated into a page.

Google Analytics (GA) and Google Search Console (GSC)

If you currently have a GA and/or GSC account, rather than giving us your logins, please grant us access by adding OneLocal as a user. It's only a couple steps for each platform - take a look at our articles below that show you exactly what to do!

Don't have a GA or GSC account? No worries! Let your Marketing Specialist know and our team will set these up for you!

What If I still don't know what my login details are?

If you didn’t manage your website, try reaching out to your previous provider. They should be able to tell you who your domain provider is, where your website files are hosted, and give you any logins that you are missing.

If you still don't know, please don't hesitate to reach out to your Marketing Specialist for help! We'd be happy to help identify where your website information may be living.

Summary

Always provide us with your Website (aka CMS) logins, Website Hosting logins, Domain logins, and CRM logins. Additionally, we may ask for Instagram logins. They each play a crucial part in getting work started for you!

If you can’t remember where your site was built, reach out to whomever managed your website in the past. Alternatively, you can use BuiltWith, a Chrome browser extension that displays a wealth of information about your website, including the Website Hosting Provider, Name Server (Domain Provider), and CMS.

*ICANN is a non-profit that "helps coordinate the Domain Name System (DNS), often referred to as 'the phone book of the Internet." (read more here)
