Hey there, beginner schedule builder! jmc is committed to helping you develop the perfect master schedule; one that balances the needs of both teachers and students so that they can thrive. Success starts with these six fundamental scheduling tasks and tips, hand-selected by the jmc training team.

You can set the foundation for the best possible master schedule by adding any new teachers in jmc Office, setting the number of periods in a day, and selecting the days in your desired course schedule cycle. To get going on these scheduling prep steps, read this handy jmc Help Center article.

In order for teachers to access essential gradebook tools, reports, and period attendance features, you’ll need to first set up your courses in jmc Office by providing the course name and term type, with options to further define the course like ‘Alternative Course ID & Name’ and ‘Grade Scale.’

After you’ve scheduled students with special circumstances, it’s time to save time by loading the remaining students onto rosters via our ‘Schedule Students’ feature, which allows you to schedule by grade level or all students at once. Read this article for the step by step on bulk-scheduling.

Prerequisites are the prep (course)work that students need to complete in order to successfully move on to more advanced courses — and college. You can define course prerequisites in just a few steps via jmc Office to ensure that all students are placed in classes that match their level of readiness.

We give you two options for reviewing course data on grading, teachers, and more so that you can be sure your schedule meets enrollment needs: 1) View a course data list in jmc Office or 2) print your list to identify available courses and map out where new ones will fit. We want your master schedule to be the best possible, so much so that our trainers have curated several collections of scheduling-focused articles and videos, which you can explore over at the jmc Help Center.
