Understanding Direct Admit Wisconsin in jmc

Use jmc to manage Direct Admit Wisconsin (DAW) requirements, including course alignment, eligibility review, and submission preparation.

jmc partners with the University of Wisconsin to support participation in the Direct Admit Wisconsin (DAW) program. This integration allows districts to align coursework with UW admission requirements, monitor student eligibility, and prepare required submission materials directly within jmc. By connecting course data, eligibility indicators, and transcript resources, jmc brings together the key components needed to identify eligible students and complete the DAW submission process.

Course Alignment with State Course Codes

The State Specific Course Code tab on the Edit Course Data page in jmc Office lets you associate local math courses with state course codes or SCED codes. This aligns your school's courses with those required for admission to the Direct Admit Wisconsin program. These codes serve as the foundation for eligibility tracking when using Direct Admit WI features in jmc.

  • State Course Code drop-down list: a list of state course codes recognized by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) and the University of Wisconsin that classify the content of a specific course

Student Eligibility Overview and Direct Admit File Download

The Direct Admit WI page provides a centralized view of student data used to evaluate readiness for the DAW program. With access to completed math coursework, academic tier, and unweighted GPA, this page brings together the key information districts need to conduct the University of Wisconsin’s recommended academic review. In addition to reviewing eligibility, this page also provides the tools needed to generate the Direct Admit File for submission.

  • On Track for DAW checkbox: an indicator that becomes available when a student meets required math criteria, helping districts identify students who are likely to qualify for the Direct Admit Wisconsin program

  • Opted Out Students button: a list of students who have been excluded from the Direct Admit Wisconsin page as indicated on their View Student Data page

  • Create Direct Admit File button: generates the data file required for submission to the University of Wisconsin as part of the Direct Admit Wisconsin program. The file includes eligible 12th grade students and compiles relevant academic data—such as cumulative GPA and academic tier—allowing districts to review and finalize which students should be included in the submission.

Prepare Transcripts for Submission

As part of the DAW submission, districts need to provide the University of Wisconsin with transcripts for students who qualify for the program. jmc supports this process through the Print Transcripts page, which allows districts to generate official records reflecting completed coursework and academic records. These transcripts are included alongside the Direct Admit File when submitting materials to the University of Wisconsin.

  • By Random radio button: allows you to select one or more students individually to print or export their transcripts

  • Print button: downloads student transcripts to your computer so they can be printed or saved as a PDF
