Benchmarks are the individual skills listed on standards-based report cards and are used by teachers and students to monitor progress throughout the year. With jmc, you can easily manage the language and organization of these items without needing technical support. Make updates, add new benchmarks, or remove those no longer in use—all in just a few simple steps.

To get started, log in to jmc Office and go to Standards and Benchmarks > Definitions > Edit Benchmarks.

Step One: Select the "Subject Area," "Standard," and "Benchmark Group" from the drop-down lists to place the benchmark in the correct hierarchy.

Fun Fact: A typical hierarchy might include Subject Area: "First Grade," Standard: "Science," and Benchmark Group: "All Standards."

Step Two: Click the "Add" button to create a new benchmark or select a benchmark from the list and click the "Edit" button to update it.

Step Three: Enter a unique number/letter combination in the ID field and the item to be assessed in the "Benchmark" field to create the benchmark.

Step Four: Click the "Save" button to apply your changes or click the "Cancel" button to discard them.

Helpful Tip: To delete a benchmark that is no longer in use, select it from the list and click the "Delete" button.
