How to restore GPS connection?

Updated over 3 weeks ago

If you’re having GPS problems or losing connection with your OnTracx sensor during real-time feedback, try these steps:

For iPhone

  1. Restart your iPhone – resets GPS and Bluetooth connections.

  2. Check Location & Bluetooth settings

    • Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services.

    • Set OnTracx to Always or While Using the App.

    • Turn Precise Location ON.

    • Toggle Location Services and Bluetooth OFF and ON again.

  3. Turn off Low Power ModeSettings > Battery > Low Power Mode OFF.

  4. Enable High Accuracy Location Services – under System Services, keep Wi-Fi Networking, Bluetooth, Motion Calibration & Distance ON.

  5. Check sensor connection – connect only through the OnTracx app, not via iPhone Bluetooth settings.

  6. Reinstall the app if problems persist.

For Android

  1. Restart your phone – resets GPS and Bluetooth.

  2. Disable battery saving modes – keep them OFF while running.

  3. Toggle GPS and Bluetooth OFF and back ON.

  4. Check app permissionsSettings > Apps > OnTracx > Permissions:

    • Location: Allow all the time.

    • Bluetooth: Allowed.

  5. Disable battery optimization for OnTracx – steps vary by device brand (Samsung, Huawei, OnePlus, etc.). Look for Battery Optimization or Special Access and set OnTracx to Don’t optimize.

  6. Set Location to High AccuracySettings > Connections > Location > High Accuracy.

  7. Allow background activitySettings > Apps > OnTracx > Battery > Allow background activity.

  8. Check sensor connection – ensure the sensor is charged and connected via the app, not directly through Bluetooth settings.

  9. Reinstall the app if nothing else works.
